Strength coach

Not a strength coach issue IMO. Don't think JRM and KMac have strength issues 🤔. Could be our guys give max effort on every play and go balls out. Put themselves in harms way for the good of the team. Not sure there is any specific person to blame when injuries occur.

I agree completely. This team isn't anywhere physical enough, and hasn't been the entire season. He also needs to evaluate fall camp. They might not be hitting enough.

Other butch teams that I have watched (not many) seem to be finesse teams. His offense system seem to show this. His players seem to fit this system (offense). THIS WILL NOT WORK IN THE SEC over the long haul. Bigger and stronger is what it takes on both sides of the ball as far as I can tell.

Most of our injuries have been to the joints. S&C will not take care of that. If it were more muscle type injuries this might be a more appropriate topic.

you don't think stretching and lifting don't effect joints?

wtf..

The issue with injuries has been multifaceted this year. This team has been playing on the razors edge. They are selling out every down and the byproduct has been the injuries. A big dose of bad luck certainly at play too.

Are the injuries because of the strength coach, the practice routines or because of the plays we run?

Supposedly, we have a slew of 600+ squatters.

Is it the field? Probably not for Labrum or pec injuries.

Are we not stretching properly? Cleats? Shoulder Pads? Tackling technique?

Hydration?

It would be money well spent if Tennessee funded a study on injuries and started it like yesterday. And it should compare us to other upper echelon Power 5 schools.

What percentage of 'Bama's starters on offense and defense played vs. what percentage of UT's on both sides of the ball.

Doing this type of analysis against the last 4 teams could be telling. If there is a difference it seems it must be one or both of:
a) S&C
b) tackling technique

My sons high school strength and conditioning coach used to be at UT under Dooley. He has done wonders with our team.

I keep thinking that if we would have been putting teams like Appy State and Ohio away early in the first half, we wouldn't have had to leave our starters in so much in the second half. A team like UT should be able to count on not having to leave the starters in for the whole game against the weaker teams on the schedule.

So in a way, I blame a lot of the injuries on the defensive side of the ball on the offense not getting the job done.

^ this x 1000. I said this to several people when our starters were still in the games in the 3rd and 4th Qtrs. We seem to play down to the level of competition.

Did you also notice how early in the year that it seemed like every one of our opponents were dropping like flies due to cramps? We didn't have that problem. We've just had bad luck I think.[/QUOTE]

Ever seen the end of a soccer match?

Just to bring some more to the conversation, there's a lot more that goes into a good S&C program than just, well...strength and conditioning. Flexibility and mobility/range of motion are also very important parts; moving correctly and efficiently. If this area is deficient it can definitely lead to a spate of injuries as technique breaks down either under fatigue or just poor habit.

I just saved us $590,000 per year. Attached is the football program created by Alabama's S&C Coach. The other $10,000 is earmarked for the designer preworkout supplements needed to implement all those supersets at high intensity consistently.

Alabama pays there strength coach $600,000 per year and we just have interim strength coach $60,000. Swain had good discussion about it this morning and I think Butch has to make a change here in the off-season. Could be a reason for all of the injuries in that we may not be lifting as heavy as we should. Good reason why we are not physical on the line against anyone we play this year. What's everyone think?
I heard this too. I don't know if the injuries are related at all, but we had guys arrive on campus (McKenzie , Tuttle etc) that we expected to dominate the line but we don't look that strong! Conditioning coach yes, but strength?????

KMac is without a doubt strong, but he was when he got here, could hold his own against sec o lineman strength wise to begin with!
2 years of college strength and conditioning he should be dominating. Remember he was a top ten overal 5 star recruit

Leverage is a thing and it matters... A lot.

I love KMac (hence the avi), but he plays too high.

Having to play so many young players cant be good for health. I would think red shirting players helps with their bodies being better prepared for SEC play.

I think this is part of it as well. Our starters haven't had the luxury of getting rest in the games they should be getting rest in. It all adds up.
