After 2nd year...

Bajakian quits or get pushed out?

After 3rd year...

Jancek quits or gets pushed out?

Elder quits or gets pushed out?

Dave Lawson quits or gets pushed out?

These were ALL staff members that CBJ worked with for many years together.

... Did Butch become an Ego and some of his "old friends" just couldn't take it anymore?

Who else is going to be "quit or pushed out?..

I know people want Mahoney or Debord to be next.. But when you have people that have stood next to you for the longest times and just quit on you... something is definitely wrong.

Staff changes happen every year at every school. Didn't elder leave for a head coaching job?

Elder got a job as a head coach because we had a top 5 special teams unit that season (may have been #1)

Maybe the coaches that left after year 3 were the guys that instilled discipline.

My troubling Butch Jones trend is, he keeps saying he "owns it" but doesn't actually take responsibility for it.

I'm just making the point that the ones who have currently left or quit or whatever have been assistant to CBJ for many years. They've had "success" at other places before heading to TN. I'm wondering why they had decided it was "time to go" now?

Maybe they wanted a promotion? If I am not mistaken, everybody wanted Jancek and Bajakian out so I am not sure what your point is.

Because they took promotions. If you want to provide a point, stick with assistannts that fit the narrative. You named 4, two left for promotion and one sucked and needed to go. That leaves one, not sure why he left. So that is hardly a negative on CBJ.

Mine is he says he "owns it", then they'll do the same crap the next game. Do they actually do anything during the week to fix this Chinese firedrill they show us every game?

There is probably nothing sinister about these assistants jumping on the "assistant coach carosel". It is part and parcel of football. Assistant coaches, for their own reasons, make good or bad choices on their own to go to a new job.

Success at Tennessee had made these resumes more attractive. The more experience one has the better, you know. Go get the better (for you) job. Whether it's for the money, to increase the number of positions coached, or plain ol' move where the family is comfortable. That's what responsible, successful folk do. At least one, was making very bad personal choices and bringing that to the practice field.

I believe this is a valid observation, these are friends who probably felt at the time they could say anything to Butch, and he might have suggested they find other jobs, because he is the HC at UT and this is what it takes to bring a school out of the cellar. I would also point out that other successful coaches do not lose their staff like that........sure some of them, but they stay longer.
