should we storm the field when we beat Florida.

You do realize that at every home game, they already post security every 4-5 feet along the edge of the student section at the end, right? Also, good luck stopping 13,000 kids.

I like how you're talking as if a) the students are reading this or b) they give a damn.

As a one time student at UT, I KNOW that ya'll don't give a damn! I didn't either but i just wish i could get yall to see the err in your ways! :) Have a great time but storming the field two times this year is going to be way over kill.

Ohio State fans rushed the field after beating Michigan in 2006.

That was a 1 vs 2 game with the winner going to the BCS title game...nice comparison! :ermm:

Notre Dame did it in 2005 after they thought they had beaten USC.

USC was ranked #1.

LSU did it both in 1997 and 2001 after beating Florida and Tennessee.

Florida was ranked #1 in 1997 and #2 in 2001. LSU played at UT in 2001 and beat them in the SECCG so I don't they stormed the field after either of those. Maybe in 2000 the game after they lost to UAB.

I don't know if beating Florida this year is worth rushing the field over, but I know for sure that if we beat an undefeated Alabama this year, those goalposts better come down quickly.

Why give the Alabama's and UF's the satisfaction of knowing their programs are superior to UT's?

haha I knew this would pop up on the board someday, glad I only had to wait less than 24 hours

when they carry the goal posts down cumberland, who gets to keep them?

When we carried the one that still resides in OCI, well its not OCI anymore but still on the strip, in 1998 (my first game in Neyland, hoping for a repeat of the feeling Sat night) they cut it to fit on the wall and we regulars that brought it got little rings of it. I still have mine in a shadowbox with every stub from that year, a couple field passes ( did UTTV), and several autographs and pics throughout the year.

Dont let people diminish the feeling, as a VFL my #1 moment in life was my first game, and make no mistake about it if they storm you WILL go too. No choice really. We were in E row 19 and didn't have a choice it was one body moving forward at the same time. Either hit the field or get trampled.

Whatever you guys do, have fun. You are making memories that will last a lifetime. My brother and I still tell that story on a very regular basis.

I do not think it is a big deal at all, no one will likely get arrested (unless you steal an ESPN camera like a neighbor of mine did then to a CBS camera) just be safe, and be careful to not get hurt or hurt anyone else!

GBO!

vast majority of those saying no are 30+ years old.

the school is for the students. if they want to celebrate, then let them celebrate.

You know, have at it! When KPD clubs someone silly and it's splashed all over the paper the next day, you will enjoy it all the more. In 1998 there wasn't a cop on the field after the game. They will be out in droves on Saturday. They haven't had the chance to "assert" their authority in a while so they will be ready to rock.

I think after the first 20 or so students get over the fence, the cops will just stand by.

Think about it, if you were a cop in Knoxville, what would you do? I would just stand there and let them have their moment.

Ive got mixed feeling, ive always dreamed of just stepping on the grass at neyland abd looking up at the stands, so if people do it, i just might have to join them..

Alabama is also ranked #1 just like USC and Florida were.

So?

What point are you trying to make when you storm the field? That your team did something spectacular? Beating an 18th ranked team isn't that spectacular! If UT were to beat Bama, that would be spectacular, but I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of being "field storming" worthy.

I would tase the dorkiest looking guy that I saw who I knew didn't know a thing about football, tradition, etc. and hope that it was you.
