Stories about meeting Vols

I love this story and can tell it by heart.

I was at the Asheville Ducks Unlimited banquet about 5 years ago and had been looking for a female lab from hunting stock to breed with my male. I was talking to this guy cause I've never met a stranger and we was talking about hunting etc. and I was telling him i needed to find a female to breed with my male. he said i have 8 females. i was like oh really? he said yeah they are master hunters etc. i said oh well i guess you dont want to breed them with mine then. (the master class dogs are worth 5-10 grand sometimes more and mine is just a good bird dog) a buddy i had invited was drunk and kept staring at the auctioneer girls boobs so i had to say excuse me and escort my buddy out. I came back and he was still there waiting. We talked some more and I explained i had to get my twin sisters home and said I'm sorry sir I didnt catch your name. He said I'm Heath Shuler. I said HOLY ****! OMG you have no idea what a Tennessee fan i am! He invited me to work dogs with him later and i did. It took 3 years for me to be able to afford a puppy $1,000-$1500 when he had a litter available.

I got a phone call last march from a restricted number. I figured it was my mom and said Yeah, He said hey buddy its Heath. I was like OMG well hey man hows it goin? He said i got a litter of puppies and he gave me pick of the litter and since he was half owner i just had to pay the other guy. I've helped him some with campaigning, and now that hes our congressman he never answers phone. But I have his gate code and go up to his house and work Kemen (my current avatar) Heath, his manager, or anyone that works close to him prior to and after politics has always been more than helpful in any way possible. MY first impression was he is a fine family oriented christian man. I'll swear by that too. My sisters have his autograph and I have his gate code and cell phone number.lol.

My uncle that got me to be a Tennessee fan when i played youth football for him in 5th grade ran into him in Superpets in Asheville one Sunday he introduced his self and he was really nice to him as well. they talked for a minute and then Steve said I'm Ryan's uncle. Heath said OH! i heard his dog was doing awesome and then they talked about me the rest of the time. It was cool the circle that my uncle started with convincing me to be a Vol fan ironically when Heath played and he was my childhood hero playing football made a complete circle this year. Steve give Heath a hard time over him losing $20 on the SC game we lost in 91 or 92. Hes a super guy!

During the Heath Schuler era I talked and hung out with him at the old Hoorays I am not sure it is spelled correctly but down in the old city after a game he was really cool.

I gave Billy Ratliff his 1996 orange jersey a little over a year ago (the one with the Neyland 75th patch). I hated to let it go since it had some real good wear to it, but Billy was my favorite. No one else gets that deal.:p

Trey Teague is a family friend

I have two or three of his old jerseys hanging in the closet.

Cedric Houston and Tony Brown were in my very first sociology class way back when. It was taught by this pretty funny grad student. One day he was talking about norms and what not, and discussed how men and women sit differently. Men take up lots of space, women take very little space. He then brought up Ced to the front of the class and was like, here you sit like this, and proceeded to have him sort of scrunch himself up like the women in the class. I can still hear Tony laughing at him.

Hey guys this is my first post here. I have been a UT fan since 1994. I live in the upstate of SC. THis past weekend I got to go the Greenville Drive(minor league baseball team) game with Johnathan Crompton and Wes Brown. My moms boyfriend is buddies with John's dad and he was there to take some photos for the team. They are both very nice guys.

Great story. Welcome to the board.

I am a member at the same country club as kendrick Jones here in Memphis. He is actually our reigning club champion. I have met him on several occasions but have not had a chance to play with golf with him...I think he might not want to lose to someone almost half his age:)We actually were supposed to play sometime this summer but I am moving back home to Kentucky on Monday.

Back in 1994 Ray Mears came to my small elementary school and spoke to my class. He gave us a great talk about how to succeed in life. Most of the 10 or so people in the class being dumb kids had no idea who he was, but I do remember him wearing the orange blazer, and someone even asked why his coat was orange.

I helped Trey teague pass Freshman English. He and Jeff Smith were in my paper/journal review group. They always got their work done at the last minute.

I also let Tiffany Woosly copy off my Calculus I test. Just doing my part for the Vols.

Thank you for giving your all for Tennessee.... that day :p

The very beginning of Johnathon Crompton's freshman year, I was out in Knoxville getting a haircut. He walks in right behind me to sign in, and I notice that when he signed his name he wrote his jersey # too. When the girl called me back to get my haircut, she was joking on him the whole time because of it.

Will Ofenheusle works for one of my customers. I talk to him weekly..... hell of a nice guy. I know sometimes players sizes are exaggerated, but this guy is every bit of 6-8.

First timer here...Funny story....I met Johnny Majors last year at Chattanooga Golf & Country Club. My brother-in-law went up to him on the practice range and said "how ya doin coach?" I was thinking this may of been one of his old basketball coaches in high school, then I realized it was Johnny. He was in a foursome with a former Miss USA (or America) from I believe the 60's. Went home and looked her up and sure enough..still looked good too. Very polite man with many stories. Still looks the same. A true Tennessee legend.

Anyways, we ended up playin behind his group and I found his putter that he left behind on the 10th hole and gave it back (not sure how you leave a putter behind!). By the 13th hole they headed in. Just a guess, but he may of had a few too many strokes or too many refreshments..LOL

Ate Dinner with Jajuan Smith after the South Carolina bball game this past season at the Copper Cellar.

Also met Josh Briscoe several times this year. The first time we met was at the Florida basketball game. I was in the front row with my chest painted and he was walking around and he came and talked to me and my buddies who were painted up with me. He told us thanks for supporting UT and for being as loud as we could be and he went and got us all free waters. Talked to him several times after that on different occasions about different stuff.

I rode the elevator with candace parker and nikki anosike at the same time in Andy Holt Aparments. It was after they won the National Championship this year and I told them congrats and we talked for a little bit. They made me feel pretty small.

I loved Will Ofenheusle.

I always enjoyed every Monday during his career, seeing "The SEC is investigating claims of dirty play against Tennessee lineman Will Ofenheusle..."
