I do not understand you morons saying the defense is bad and was horrible saturday. Murray had 227 yards (very average) and held Crowell to 59 yards!

We gave up 2 FGs. one TD was set up by a snap over Bray's head that put the ball down on the 8 and the next play was a 31 yard punt giving Ga the ball on the 38. you can blame a defense for that!

the other touchdown was set up by a blown coverage, so OK our defense made truly one bad play!

Come on. they gave up 20 points! How many of you idiots thought they played bad defense in the first half when it was 6-6 at the half? As i have already explained, you can not hang it all on the defense. The Offense has to score a few points to win games.

You are wasting your time on here my friend.

Our defense is not our problem, it's our running game. Plain and simple.

There not that bad when the offense is on the 20 yard line about to score, but at midfield our defense is terrible.

Our D doesn't suck at keeping scoring totals low. They suck at getting off the field on 3rd downs to give us the ball back. Granted, our O was not doing much with the ball when the D would finally get off the field.

Can you explain to me why our safety's bite on the run when it's not even play action, leaving 2 Db's Man on Man and we burned on the deep pass?? Can you explain to me why we can't get pressure on a QB? Wilcox has yet to impress me.. I have yet to see his coaching excellence that everyone has bragged about.. Where are the Crazy Blitz Packages?? Our defense acts like it plays everything safe.. Nothing aggressive... We don't pressure the QBs.. Our D line just Contains... I am not impressed...

Have to say I agree...no running game, ST break downs and the snapping issues have caused us the biggest problems.

This is why everyone is upset with Wilcox. We do not dial up enough pressure on 3rd downs. I would honestly rather see us bring the heat on a QB and have some completions happen than to sit back and still have them happen. I was actually pretty impressed with our run defense. Outside of a few plays they played really well. Our pass defense has to get better. And for the one TD from Crowell there was a blatant hold from UGA that was a nocall. The OLman for UGA literally almost ripped our guys jersey off of him.

^You are correct sir! Total run production for FL & GA:
Fla -9yds total run
GA -20yds total run

In case it did not sink in, that is negative 29 yards total run offense in two complete games! Horrific!

So much of what you can and can't do feeds off the run game that it is unbelievable we have not been blown out these two games.

D played well enough to win... the offense did NOT! If you'd told me before the game that we hold GA to 20, I'd assumed we won. I'm shocked at our lack of offense against GA.

Ask Terry Fair and Fred White what they think about the defense they saw Saturday, especially the secondary and specifically safeties. Also no pass rush to help the secondary.
Stats and points do not always tell the whole story.

No, but points are all that matters when the final whistle is blown.

Fyp

Against them and everyone for that matter. I know we're not better with Simms but at least it might focus them in on the running game a little more. I get the feeling with Bray, they were just going to ride him and see where it lead. They don't have that luxury anymore and it may help down the road.

Just trying to spin something positive out of a big negative.

I get your point but the negative rushing yards is kinda skewed with the college stat rules

exactly, how many times did we gripe about chavis defense even though we won that game.

the fact is we don't have the experience or talent. we held ga to 2 TD and that's because our offense played terrible in the 3rd quarter. if we sustaine any type of drives, they don't score 2 td.

you people bashing our defense are morons.

Great post! Reading some of this stuff on here makes me sick. I wonder if they watched the same game I did. If going into the game you had known that they would only score 20 points EVERYBODY would of been calling for a win. Since we only scored 12 points, we have the worst d-coordinator. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT BEFORE YOU SPEAK OR TYPE FOR THAT MATTER!! Thanks

If you go back to the Chavis days, he would not blitz if the DB's were young or inexperienced. Fulmer said it many times that you blitz, you'll get burned over the top. So, in CJW's defense, our DB's are young AND inexperienced. You gotta give yourself the best shot at winning, and I believe that's what he did.

Most of us knew the defense wasn't going to be special. Offense not being able to sustain any drives and keep them off the field makes it look worse. Again go back to the running game or lack there of.

The pass rush is horrible. I's like when the ball was snapped the defense didnt gain any against their OL. A dont think a blitz now and then could have hurt us anymore. Our corners got beat deep almost every down anyway.

Last time I checked, talent was the problem. Give Wilcox the Alabama defense and he looks like a coaching genius.

Totally agree and let's not forget that Brewer didn't really play and Randolph was out there quite a bit. Yes, we are young, but that should be the very reason for us to be mixing up blitz packages and trying different looks. Since we are now out of the running in the East, we need to just let it all hang out and be aggressive in every aspect of the game and learn from it. What do we have to lose?

I'm not taking up for the run game, because it IS abysmal, but I'm kinda tired of seeing this stat shoved in everyone's face all the time. Quarterback sacks count as negative rushing yardage. Going back to the Florida game, total up the running yardage that our RB's have had, take out the sacks, and see if we don't have a positive total. The problem is our O-line. If the OL does their job, plays with a mean streak on EVERY DOWN, then running should (maybe) improve, and QB sacks will definitely decrease.
