Everyone on here is either a passionate Tennessee fan or a troll. There is no such thing as a freaking Negavol.
I love the Vols, but I don't think Derek Dooley is the guy to take this program back to the SEC Championship. I'd LOVE to be proven wrong, but I just don't believe I will. That doesn't make me a bad fan or even a Derek Dooley hater. It just means I am a realistic fan that pays attention when I watch my team play. It doesn't even mean I abandon hope that we could win every Saturday.
Calling us negavols is like calling someone anti-American because they don't like the current President's policies. Please don't turn this into a political thread, I just want to make the point that each example is asinine.
Negavols is a frustrating misnomer. Please come up with a more clever and appropriate designation for the realists on this board...if you must.
I assure you that I don't want anything "negative" to happen to the "Vols".

I would even rap about it if I could. I think nega- and anti- have two very different meanings. In fact, I would argue that Dooley supporters are anti-Vols. They have set up for themselves a false messiah in Mecca.

Be honest here! Fans who believe that a coach can come into a program that has been torn apart as tennessee was and rebuild that team in 2-3 years with a limit on the number of scholarships allowed is being totaly unrealistic. Few coaches are 100% right on the players that they sign. We all know that it takes approx. 30 SEC caliber players to compete in the SEC. I might add that 2-3 years of experience is also needed. When a new staff is brought in, not all of the coaches are going to be the right ones. When Johnny Majors was hired it took several seasons before he was able to get the right coaches. So for you guys that do not want to be refered to as Negavols, get some patience!

There's a difference between making intelligent criticisms and being negative just for the sake of it. You can be fair and critical... some find ways to be negative and critical no matter what.

I think time is running out on Dooley. I have been called a Doolaid drinker or whatever but never really was. My position was that you give someone time to prove themselves without pre-judging. The standards from my perspective were stated up front and have not changed by much since he was hired. If he doesn't prove himself this year then IMO you have to cut your losses and move on.

Even if he is/was/could have been a GREAT coach that was always a tall order. He inherited a train wreck and needed everything to go perfect to achieve the minimum to keep the job. That may not be "fair" but it is reality. IMO the pro-Dooley folks are trying to be "fair"... without realizing that if you cannot advance the program and be fair at the same time.... you advance the program. I don't think it is possible to do both. He either needs to prove he's an SEC coach or needs to be replaced.

There are no negavols or sunshine pumpers. There are just annoying people that can't stand it if they can't stick a label on everyone.

You are mostly right... and it still does not matter. The program has to come before Dooley. If he goes 7-5 this year then he's proven nothing. Recruiting will likely suffer. The program will take a giant step backward.

I will even go this far. If he goes 0-3 over the next three games then he should be cut loose so the replacement can have a chance to get a decent recruiting class pulled together.

He MUST prove he can coach in the SEC. Fans need it but more importantly the program needs that credibility.

How about NegaDools for the ones that don't think he can/will ever get it done? I think Negavols goes back to the Fire Fulmer days.

BTW, I am what is labeled a Sunshine Pumper. Don't mind it a bit...pretty funny actually.

Is this in reference to my rap comment? I'm confused. Not really a rap fan so I may be missing a reference.

I love when people use that word, when expecting anything more then what Dooley has given us. well almost.

We should have won UK and UF.

Thats two strikes.

Dooley could get his third strike this year and be gone.. or he could hit a homerun.

But realistically... he has brought us out of the darkest whole UT has been in, in a very long time.

And done it with class, and without NCAA troubles.

What else could you realistically expect?

Good post, OP.

I don't see where he has brought us out any darkest "whole" at all. He has not won a single SEC game outside of the state of TN. He is 1-9 over the past 10 SEC games. The new improved Matador Defense will not get it done against anybody.

Better hope the O can outscore somebody or the D develops a spine between now and the end of the season. This is the truth. Wish it weren't. Wish we were all in agreement and high on the future with Coach Dooley leading the charge. My hype meter is broken. Can't get there anymore on my own. Need something other than a "moral victory" which turned out to be a joke this past Saturday.

I'm a PRO Tennessee fan.

I support ALL the coaches and ALL the players no matter what!

At the end of the season IF our AD decides to make coaching changes I will support ALL the new coaches and players.

If AD Hard decides to keep CDD and staff for another season I WILL support our coaches and players.

My blood is bright Tennessee orange so that's just how I am.

I still think a HC that's hired to rebuild an entire program and player roster should be allowed to get at least 4 of HIS recruiting classes on campus before thoughts of firing him happen but I think AD Hart is smarter than 50% of the few fans here on VN.

I think the people here on VN are less than 1% of the real Tennessee fans but we're just louder and post alot.

LOL !

I love the insinuation that those who support Dooley can't be realists.......

I love the insinuation that those who support Dooley can't be over the top...just as much if not more than the negas. Because they can.

And IN NO WAY am I insinuating that you do or don't believe this. Just playing devil's advocate my man.

I just wish we could get to the point where EVERY SINGLE SEC team highlight ESPN shows isn't against us. That would be a huge check mark on Dooley's side for me.
