Hypothetical argument... Yes. Dooley's first staff with this team vs Jones and any of his coaches... Dooley wins. Whether you give Dooley credit or not... coaches get the win even if they ride their staff.

How much worse can it be? Oh I don't know... maybe losing 41-0 after giving a guy 5 years to "build" the program? In spite of inheriting a bad roster (and not improving it) Dooley's worst home loss was to a 12-1 Oregon team in his 1st year by 35.

Of course comparing two coaches as bad as these two... is like comparing the smell of cow manure compared to horse manure.

I swear Dooley who lost to candy by what 30 points and the icing on the cake when he lost to Kentucky with a wr at QB... It felt like every game his last 2 years we had no shot at all. LT was 4-8 the year we hired him,6-7-/5-7/4-7 that's his record...It blows my mind how the hate for butch is so bad that this is forgotten..

The longer we go without an announcement, the more resentful people will become and the good that was done will fade from memory. It's not Butch's fault though. He has a job to do, for now. Right now the real pressure is on Currie and the money men. They are the ones who have to make the hard decisions.

Not only is Butch a bad coach but I feel like he is the guy that smells bad but doesn’t know it. We’ve all met this guy. He is usually nice and a good performer but for whatever reason he doesn’t know he smells like Cat urine.

So basically a bad coach that stinks at his job!

Hehe, just having a little fun. I'm less invested in all of this than it seems. Oddly, I didn't even get all that upset during the whole game fiasco--my wife gave me a real suspicious look when I wasn't that upset. I think I'm starting to just get used to being a part of something that isn't worth much. Mediocre in almost every sport. I wish we could crack the top 150 in something academically if we aren't going to be worth a sh-t in sports. It would be nice to have something good to identify with as far as your school is concerned.

If they kept Butch forever and we win 8 games a year by scheduling 2 cupcakes and beat the usual suspets, I could live with it. I sure ain't living and dying on UT football wins. I just think it's ridiculous to say,,,'he isn't coming here'--whoever he is. Why not? Saban went to Alabama--ever been through Tuscaloosa? yikes!, Sweeney went to Clemson, etc, etc.

I'd gladly take Petrino--or many others, but you can't say someone wouldn't come to Knoxville..why not, if the money was right.

Well, I didn't think I would be able to laugh tonight, but this post had me chuckling. Thanks, T4V. Now, let's fire Butch and go spend some money. UT has the talent to win the East next year, let's get a coach that will make it happen

Last several National Championship scores:

More good teams are running the zone read, more teams are scoring, more NC teams need to out score the other........not just play D.

Chips teams could score, and score quickly (near last in time of possession yet near the top in plays and scoring). Chip's D's gave up 21 PPG over his college HC career.

Chips D's numbers also include games against one of the best SEC teams of all time and a really good Wisconsin team with Russell Wilson. His teams were also fast. They had great speed that gave defenses fits.

I actually said in another post Petrino may come here. Saban went to Alabama because it is Alabama. They had like 16 or more national championships and the Bear coached there. Lots of history and lots of recruits want to go there when they are winning. You mentioned Dabo if I'm not mistaking he turned UT to go to Clemson. If I'm right then that is another example of a coach choosing another school. I don't understand why coaches don't come here but historically they haven't. I hope that will change in my lifetime.

What makes this all even more maddening is Butch at his postgame presser saying "We're gonna find out who the true leaders are...we're gonna find out who the true competitors are". Wow. That's awesome. Have u ever heard anything.... as uninspiring as THAT? Wow. I'm pumped now. Way to reel us back in Butch. Here I was worried about the future of Tennessee football but now that I know we're gonna find out who the true competitors are everything just seems right with the world. The SEC is officially on notice now. Geez.

After a loss like that this angry, frustrated fan base needs at least..."something". Maybe express how you will never see a Butch Jones coached team play like THAT again...or some other BS...but noooooooo....after one of the worst home losses in Vol history he gives us....THAT nonsense. I don't know about you guys but man am I pumped. I can't wait to find out who the true competitors are. Awesome. Thanks Butch.

Because you keep spouting this lunacy about the Pac 10, since 2000 the SEC is 15-14 vs the Pac 10. Essentially .500. That was during the absolute prime of the SEC. It's fallen off dramatically now.

Chip Kelly lost a very close NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP game to an Auburn team led by Cam Newton. Which should make us not(!) want him apparently.

Stop with the"stop..." threads cause not only do people not stop, they go harder. Also:
LSU hired ED ORGERON- nuff said- btw, they fired Miles early in the season and the team actually put together some strong games and upsets
Ole Miss had get red of Freeze, not sure if you cared to google that deal and find he is getting them in deep trouble with NCAA

Georgia fired Richt- Kirby already has them relevant and rolling, are did you miss that?
Michigan fired Hoke, they are rolling
Florida fired Muschamp and won the east twice already with a bad team, even
Central Florida fired OLeary and is fine
Wake made a change and is good

I know I'm wasting my time but these threads should be banned. 1. We see many of the same "stop with the..." threads, can we merge? 2. facts don't matter n them

You got to love ( or not) even the fans cheap mentality. We can't afford to do this, we can't afford to do that. I think they're just trolls. That was absolute garbage we witnessed yesterday, and if it continues they won't have 50k in the stands by year's end. It's going to continue with Jones at the helm. He's just a bad coach, can't hide it anymore.

You also have to take into consideration that you cant recruit the same level of talent to MST that you can to UT. We have a lot more 4 and 5 * than they do. I would take Mullen over Jones right now. Still not the coach I would love to see here, but he is better than what we have.
