STOP with the Dormady needs to play stuff-

All the practice reports support my fact that they werenbetter in camp. If there are 20 camps and Dormady has two days were reports say he was the best, and the other have 10 or more days saying that then they were better. That is what happened. I don't know who will start next year, I don't know how Dormady would play in a full season. I know he was at best third in fall camp going by practice reports.

There's not a single report saying Guarantano was better in camp. There were some saying how good he is for a freshman and strong his arm is but not saying he's better. There are also just as many reports saying how Dormady is smart knows the offense and can make all the throws. You are literately making stuff up to fit your opinion. Anyways I hope one of the two or Jones will be a huge step up from Dobbs when it comes to throwing the ball.

Dobbs and JG were the two best passing the ball in fall camp according to practice reports. Dormady and Jones were three and four. Why would they pass better when they haven't shown it? That is just dumb.

Not true..why do you keep trying to fabricate.

It wouldn't hurt to get Dormady in for a couple of series a game.

Dormandy comes in throws a pic we lose by a touchdown then what? Butch Jones would be judged for his coaching from this point on. This isn't up for debate. Dobbs has been starting a long time. It's his team. His teammates love him. This isn't a question for debate. It's a question of facts. More negatives than positives. I don't think recruiting wise this looks good either.

I'm sorry but even though Dobbs played piss poorly Saturday you don't bench the senior QB who got you to this point. When Dobbs plays like he is capable he is great. I think there was a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on Saturday which contributed to a poor offensive performance and most of it falls of coaches. Also Debord needs more creativity. It seems the middle of the field is not utilized enough to the TEs.

Stop. I love Dobbs but he has never really been what is considered great. He has shown flashes of being very good but thats rare. I have defended Dobbs a ton. The fact is he just sint that good. I mean USc's high school senior QB looked better than a SR Dobbs.

When your team is struggling offensively, you need to make changes. Its called making adjustments. Dobbs is not playing like a SR QB should. We should make a change.

Throws a pic to lose the game? So what? Dobbs has done the same thing. Also, whats the downside of playing QD for the first half?

I thought they should have pulled Dobbs for just one or 2 series last week. Just give him time to see things a little different while QD played. Dobbs was all over the map.
I respect Dobbs but don't see him as a leader. Watch him on the sidelines, very, very quiet. Va Tech game showed S Jones a lot more vocal leader.

Playing QD in the first half has several positives:
It gets him some quality game reps ( not just mop up hand offs), it will loosen the defense up and force them out of the box - plus makes them have to plan for that aspect since the last 2 teams showed how completely stifle the Butch-feces
Added bonus, maybe it lights a spark under the other players including Dobbs, Second half, maybe we rely more on Dobbs but we need the offense to start humming earlier in the first half too.

I don't give any credibility to the Butch-speak of how Dobbs is light years ahead of everyone else in practice. Mainly because he tells us how great we practice and how intense and ready we are for the game each week - when we clearly aren't. Trying something different can help. If QD or SJ throws a pick 6 in the first half or goes 3 and out, then they've done as good as Dobbs has done all year for us in the first half.

Dobbs has been a special player for us. Playing QD is not any disrespect to him. Dobbs led us back a few times with his legs and Hail Mary he threw against Georgia ten years ago (it seems that long ago) was a thing of beauty and legend. I'm just ready to see if someone else can get the offense moving early in the game rather try to rely on a 58 yard FG to win games against bottom feeding teams or expect a RB who is no longer here to recover a fumble in the end zone to beat Appy State in overtime

It's also a whopping myth. Peterman smoked Dobbs in QB competition. It wasn't even close. Peterman was razor sharp and Dobbs was highly erratic - just like today.
Dobbs was demoted and Peterman promoted to #2 based upon far superior passing skills. That's in fact what happened. Facts matter.

We're not doing this again. :wavey:

You counted practice reports and got 20? And everyone of them actually used the words. "This one was the best and this one was the second best"? Calling bull again.

I feel like Butch's loyalty to Dobbs is going to get him fired this year.

It won't. However, the refusal to get QB experience this year for our starter next year, will. I know our offense has no where to go but up. However, Butch can't blame inexperience at QB position because people will look at the chances he had in the last 4.5 games in the 2016 season, while starting arguably the worst QB in the SEC.

Amen. Remember just because the backup QB hasn't thrown an interception or had a fumble doesn't mean he's the best player on the team just means he hasn't played. Just so you know dontavius Blair hasn't given up one sack and his entire collegiate career. I know a lot of you think you're highly qualified but these coaches really do get paid to make these decisions.

thank you

Ignore the practice reports all you want. All the people that cover the team said JG is the heir apparent. They all agree JG has a stronger arm and was more accurate. No the reports did not rank the qbs each practice. There were double digit practices where the writers said Dobbs and JG looked great with either no mention of the other two, or they mention that the others didn't look as good. There were literally two or three times they wrote that QD stood out. After fall was over all the articles that came out say they believe JG is the qb after Dobbs and Dormady will back up. Those are facts. Sorry if they don't fit some of yalls confirmation bias for Dormady.

Here is just one example.

Every SEC East team's QB succession plan

TENNESSEE

Starter: Joshua Dobbs, Senior
Backup: Quinten Dormady, Sophomore; Sheriron Jones, RS Freshman
Redshirt: Jarrett Guarantano, Freshman
2017 commitment: C.J. Lewis (3-star)

Overall: As long as Dobbs is healthy things will be fine in 2016. There are plenty of questions surrounding Dobbs’ ability to make tough throws, but he’s a strong competitor and leader with pluses that far outweigh the minuses.

If Dobbs gets hurt, the Volunteers have some depth. Dormady got into a couple of games last season and he’s a pocket passer. Jones redshirted, but he’s the mobile threat of the two backups.

Guarantano is the quarterback of the future and would probably benefit from a redshirt.

I guess playing the best players on your team does not work, obviously Sabin is a failure with that mindset. A Coach like Nick Satan would have benched Dobbs by the 3rd quarter.

AND NOT playing then best players on your team, is a negative for recruiting, not a positive.

Saban would have benched Dobbs after that first pick given Dobbs' struggles all year.

Saturday Down South writer's opinion after looking at the depth chart (CJ Lewis even :)). Still waiting for you to link. "all those practice reports " that specifically graded the QBs and said these looked great and obviously snubbed others. I remember a report that said the coaches were impressed with the velocity of JGs passes and his footwork...but not a virtual paper avalanche like you've painted. Pure fiction with you again. Thing is, there's a very good to great chance JG is the guy, but as you did with Torrance Gibson, you need to exaggerate outside endorsement like Trent Dilfer instead of letting chips lie and allowing the kids and coaches to settle it.
