Stop whining about your seeding and just win some games!

Does anyone think that Butler as a 7 seed is better than Virginia as a 4 last year?

I think our sweet 16 run this year will be much harder than last year.

It is about Money and Ratings. We are going to win this thing and I have book my trip to the NC games.

See post 205 in the Halfcourt Trap thread, by hat. Says that Pearl said on the conference call with media that he would take this year's seeding and learn about scheduling.

Now, you have to read between the lines a little bit, which I know might be tough for you what with the whole reading part and all, but the clear implication is that he's complaining that the tough schedule caused the four losses and ergo the #2 seed. Why else mention seeding in that context?

What was that about butchering other people's comments so as to act smug and self righteous?

Character through Adversity. Why don't we just start an NCAA Bitch thread to get all this out. Then go out and win the Tourney. This team is capable and they have the chip on their shoulder to do it. I like the Seed, don't agree with it but we need to go 6-0 not 9-0 now. A lot easier. Reminds me of the NCAA woman's tourney two years ago. Tennessee and UNC teams. Tough region. Why generated Money and interested. So add being used to the list of bitches by the NCAA and the committee.

While I though we deserved a #1, I'm not really upset at the committee for not giving us one. All of the #1's had better records in their last 12 and won their conference tourneys. I think people are more upset about us being the last #2 (eighth best team).

Wow, when I first started posting here, I never dreamed it would be between my Jayhawks and your Vols for the 1 seed. I hope I'm still welcome here, because Tenessee is my second favorite team and I'm rooting for them all the way to the Final Four!

I absolutely agree with Oldblood that the problem isn't that Tennessee got a 2 seed, it's the particular 2 seed that you got. Kansas fans assumed that it really wasn't going to matter whether Tennessee or Kansas got the one because we were going to play each other. The fact that they sent you into (presumably) the toughest bracket really stinks. That said, I absolutely feel that Tennessee can beat any team in your bracket, including North Carolina; you'll just have to do it a little sooner than you hoped.

As for the scheduling issue, you schedule a lot of teams ahead of time and it's hard to know what kind of teams you'll both be when the game comes around. Believe it or not, this year's KU schedule started with an attempt to upgrade! When we scheduled Georgia Tech, they had just beaten us to go to the Final Four. Boston College and Arizona were at the top of two of the toughest conferences. On the other side of the coin, Kansas sent a team of all freshmen and sophomores to Maui one year and got eaten alive and never did really recover their confidence (ask Bradley.) I do know that if you start ducking hard non-con games, you'd better have the nation's top conference and win it 16-0!

Tennessee is the same team today that it was on Sunday morning. Now you just have a little chip on your shoulder that could work in your favor!

Rock Chalk! See you in the Final Four!:clapping:

I bet we can go to other boards and find out you joined them in Jan. Second, I'll be the same type post exist on some of them. Kansas go a number 1 seed but I do not know if they were deserving or not of it. Really a mute point but it should be noted that they played in the lesser division of their conference. They did not play a strong non conference schedule and they did not go 16-0 in their conference. they were 8-2 in their las 10 games with a lesser schedule against only one ranked team and only one receiving any votes. While on the other hand tennessee went the same and played 5 teams receiving votes and against 2 ranked teams.

If Kansas was located in Knoxville and Tennessee in lawrence then we would be a 1 seed and Kansas a 2. This was strictly a geographical decision for ratings and money.

...another thread this morning. I'm disappointed how Coach Pearl is handling this. UT did not play well in the tournament and lost out on a possible #1 seed. Take responsibility for lack of effort and move on. They need to be ready or we will get bounced early. Grow up Vols!!!

Perhaps he is taking the "We've been disrespect now go out and show themÂ…" route to motivate the team.

Right, because a bunch of fans discussing the seeding on an internet message board means that our coach and players aren't getting ready to win games in the tournament. Good point. Thanks for the help.

take it easy on corky.....i mean law, he can't help it.

In support of LG1's point and his gators, I understand that Billy D. hasn't yet had one cross public word for the NIT selection committee that relegated him to a 2 seed.

Well he saved all the negative talk for the media while he berated his team and accepted no responsibility himself for their uninspired play. Very classy.

I actually do post on one other board, kusports.com. On that board I am one of the many posters who actually welcomes posters from other schools who are polite. We learn a lot from them and have some great "conversations" with them about everything from basketball to which bars to go to in each other's cities.

My family's roots are in Tennessee. I've traveled there and think it's beautiful and like the people. I've liked Bruce since I watched him coach UWMilwaukee to a victory. That's it. No agenda. Hard to believe in sincerity, hunh?

If you have been here since January then you know it is the same here.

I'm all for having you here, but do you really have to say stuff like Rock Chalk?

I'm all for having you here, but do you really have to say stuff like Rock Chalk?

Now that shows why people need to talk! Rock Chalk to a KU person is like Aloha in Hawaii. It's hello, good-bye, see ya, have a nice day, all rolled into one. I honestly never dreamed it would offend anyone. The Texas A&M fans always gives us, "Gig'em," the Longhorns always close with, "Hook'em." It must be a Big XII thing!

As for the comments about the seeding having to do with geography, you could be right. They weren't going to put Texas in the Midwest or Georgetown or Duke in the East, so that left very few choices. Like I said, I think it stinks.

Last year, we got a 1 in the West against UCLA who, as a 2 seed, never left the state of California. I hope you guys handle it better than we did--we lost a game to UCLA in the Elite Eight that we could and should have won, and probably would have won in the Midwest.

In the end, it's about being mentally tough enough. If Pearl is as good a coach as I think he is, he will use this slight as a huge motivation--and he should!

So, I'm closing with Go Hawks and Go Vols! Better?

Exactly. Ergo my comment that even he had joined in on whining about the seeding.

Its over and done with. Time to go play the games.

If Billy D said what Pearl said, and we all accused Donovan of whining, you'd call it a huge stretch.

"I'll figure out scheduling" is not whining.

You're so spineless, it's disgusting.

Sure it is. He's saying that the tough schedule didn't pay off so next year he'll just schedule easier games to pad the win column.

I mean, you do could not possibly think he was saying something else.

Could you?

And by the way, keep the insults to the PM system if you would. A clever barb here or there is okay. But just blatantly calling me out like that is rude.

Stop your whining and just win some arguments.

I think the fact that since this thread began there are two or three MORE threads about how unfair the committee was and how UT got singled out, bent over, and rogered but good is testament to the fact that, still, the fans here are obsessed with the injustice of your seeding.
