Stop whining about your seeding and just win some games!

KU is a top 4 just like Ohio State has been a top 2 the last two football seasons.

Very little substance other than being told they are good to a point you start to believe it.
they looked a lot more top 4 yesterday than Ohio State has looked in football since Clarett left.

Negative sir. It's not even close. I had Kansas as the third 2 until Duke lost based on their profile. They have one lone RPI top 25 win in 2 games against the top 25. They also have a loss to Oklahoma St. Their best OOC win is USC.

Compare that to teams that beat Tennessee on a neutral floor, beat UCLA on the road and beat Kansas in the regular season. If you don't like that one there is the team that won at Memphis, at Xavier, beat Gonzaga in Seattle and split with Vandy. Explain to me how they deserve it again?

bottom line is kansas won their conference champiosnhip while ut lost in the semis. like you said, it shouldn't matter but it does. had kansas lost, it would be an entirely different scenario.

but next year if you have a traditional power with the resume and someone else, like UT, with the horses, you'll see the committee lean toward the resume'.
the name on the jersey has to count for something. KY got in afterall.

If it's bull, the chairman shouldn't say it. I was more hoping because I've thought they shouldn't count at all except for the bids for a long time. I'd be just fine doing away with them all together, but they won't do that because of the money generated.

For crying out loud, what is with you guys? Even Pearl is stuck on this whiny we didn't get a one seed issue. Enough! Just go win games! You want to be the best, you got to beat the best -- who cares in what order?

Incidentally, I looked it up. Of the last ten final fours, 15 of the teams have been #1 seeds, 9 have been #2 seeds, 7 have been #3 seeds, and 3 have been #4 or #5 seeds. A few others thrown in. Point is, not as huge a difference as you might think.

Florida was a #3 seed when they won it all in 2006. Connecticutt was a #2 seed in 2004. Syracuse was a #3 seed in 2003. Kentucky was a #2 seed in 1998.

Thanks several on this board needed that. I just hate the committee for trying to justify it and changing how they look at the seeding from year in and year out.

Thank you for understanding my pro-UT, positive intent with the original post.

man, it sure does suck to know that after winning 28 games and 14 SEC games and winning the conf. and playing the toughest schedule in the country, our seeding fate came down to one game that we lost on the last possession. we must suck......

thank God we get to play again.

Question: What team has lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament 2 of the last 3 seasons to Bucknell and Bradley?

What is missing here is the fact that had Georgetown won its tourney.....ESPN had them locked in at a NO. 1 seed....jumping many. Actually I never had UT a No. 1 ...I don't think they are the lowest 2 but had Goergetown made that jump it would of been from the love fest shown by Knight and company....they kind of cooled on that idea since the Pitt loss and didn't seem to remember the the beat down they received in Memphis.....did anybody win on Memphis' floor?

your welcome and I agree. it is what it is and what it will be. I hope this puts a chip on their shoulder and some spunk in the defense. I truly believe that Pearl was playing possum with the SEC tournament and got caught. A lot more inside game and a lot less tight defense. I think he has a plan now and the kids know that we cannot run anybody out of a game. Foul calling will be tighter in the NCAA as it was in the SEC. I am sure he has his teaching points ready. Should be interesting it will be hard to scout the team because the SEC Tourney was not very indicitive of this teams normal game plan.

I have the feeling we would be right where we are if both Kansas and Tennessee had won their conference tournaments and if they had both lost in the second round. We were headed to a 2 seed with NC no matter what outcome took place.

I don't know about that observation, and this is what a lot of others I think have been posting about with regard to a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde character to this team.

Translation: Am I the only one who feels like this team has been playing at about 80 % of capacity since the Memphis game? That's been good enough to beat Florida and Kentucky (by a little bit). But not enough to get by a good Vandy team.

Who shows up in Round Two? The team that played solid defense and with intensity to beat Memphis on the road? Or the team that let lesser teams stay in the game with lackluster effort, lethargic defense, and poor free throw shooting?

Use of the word whining just doesn't really have a pro-UT, positive intent-ish feel to it.

LOL, fair enough. Was going for shock value, but maybe that was too negative. Meanwhile, what say ye about my post immediately aboce this one? Curious as to your take because I really do think the team has not been the same since Memphis.

Coasting? Or peaked too early?

That is the question (okay, two questions).

Bottom line UT has not kept their foot on the gas! Get a comfortable lead....lose said lead! That had served them well most of the year but starting in round two they better let the clutch out!

Are we tired? most teams tend to rest on the defensive end.............

I absolutely agree that the UM win went to our heads and we quit playing D again. I understand a bit, but not this long.
