Fulmer on the hot seat, Fulmer's poor recruiting, Fulmer's stodgy style of offense, Fulmer's lack of discpline, and Fulmer's weight.

What really irks me is not that Tennessee is a 2, which I would have no problem with if the other 1 were Texas. The committee flat out lied about what they were considering. They said conference tournaments would not be that important and they obviously were. Kansas has no business being a 1. I had Tennessee and Texas as 4 and 5, and both teams I thought has legitimate arguments to be a 1. Kansas does not, period. They have 1 RPI top 25 win, and that was in the conference tournament, which the committee said would not be valued as much this year as years past.:banghead2:

However, KU is one of the top 4 teams in the country. I understand the resume' argument, but they are definitely in the top 4.

Oh, yeah. Listen, if you are looking to irk me by mocking the Gators because they are going to the NIT this year while your team has a reasonable chance to win it all, you are going to be sorely disappointed. And that's both because, while I hoped for awhile they would make it in, I really didn't expect it, and because they just flat out didn't earn it.

I am a big believer that you use the regular season to earn your spot in the tournament and your seeding to give you a shot at navigating six games against good competition. I believe even more firmly that if you do that, then you have earned the right to call yourself #1 and that if you falter along the way then you work to get better.

You can tell me all you want, the committee chairman flat out LIED. I'm not a mind reader, I can only go on the criteria they put forth. According to their own criteria, Kansas does not deserve a 1. Kansas deserved a 1 as much as Woodson deserved the Heisman. There were TWO much more deserving candidates.

Let's face it: The Vols have almost always been tournament pretenders--not contenders. Even with Pearl and with this year's team, they have a golden opportunity to win the SEC tourney and get a legit 1 seed--and what do they do: Lay a big fat egg against arky, just like every other UT team in the sec tourney. Geez. In my view, because Pearl is so likeable the Vols are getting more respect than the deserve. Let's see this team go out and win its next three games. That' s what I want to see. Let's see this team thump butler or uab, and beat louisville. Instead, who would be surprised to see, say, UT and butler tied with 1 minute to go in the game? Not me. Let's go out and win.

who? Texas And Tennessee? Kansas deserved that top spot more than both the Longhorns and the Vols.

Also, the notion that the conference tourneys don't matter that much is a bunch of bull. Unfortunately, Ut found out the hard way. I wish they were #1 too, but what are you gonna do?

KU is a top 4 just like Ohio State has been a top 2 the last two football seasons.

Very little substance other than being told they are good to a point you start to believe it.

Because they had the same record against weaker competition?

Or because they won the Conference Tourney which was supposed to not matter so much?

Agreed! I pretty much said the same thing on another thread this morning. I'm disappointed how Coach Pearl is handling this. UT did not play well in the tournament and lost out on a possible #1 seed. Take responsibility for lack of effort and move on. They need to be ready or we will get bounced early. Grow up Vols!!!

I think the controversy today over the final 1 spot would suggest that 'much more' is a bit overblown. Objectively, UT and UTex both deserved the spot over KU. Subjectively, KU probably has the best of the 3 teams.

Begs the question, is seeding about the perceived top teams or the respective resume's of those in contention.

Negative sir. It's not even close. I had Kansas as the third 2 until Duke lost based on their profile. They have one lone RPI top 25 win in 2 games against the top 25. They also have a loss to Oklahoma St. Their best OOC win is USC.

Compare that to teams that beat Tennessee on a neutral floor, beat UCLA on the road and beat Kansas in the regular season. If you don't like that one there is the team that won at Memphis, at Xavier, beat Gonzaga in Seattle and split with Vandy. Explain to me how they deserve it again?

Eh, the "much more" thing is a bit overblown. I just got ahead of myself. Still, I think Kansas was the right choice.

:thumbsup: and judging by what happened, we have our answer.

i THINK KS is the best of the three as well, but i couldn't but their resume against ours and give them the 1 over us.

it seems the "eyeball" test won out.

but next year if you have a traditional power with the resume and someone else, like UT, with the horses, you'll see the committee lean toward the resume'.
