Everyone has opinions. Our fans still buy tickets and show up even when upset. When Hamilton hired Dooley, they bought in. They got back on the bandwagon after that horrid UK loss in fball, still came to TBA during Cuonzo's run, etc. Great fan base, regardless of dissenting views. That's what makes a fanbase imo, loyalty. We got it.

I find it hilarious that not even 48 hours ago there was a thread in the recruiting forum joking about the overreaction of Ole Miss fans with the Drew Richmond flip to us. Now here we are as a fan base ready to scorch the earth because we've hired Debord just one day after pulling a consensus top 5 recruiting class.

Oh, volnation, you never let me down.

I just don't see why people care what one thinks of the hire. Also, have you ever voted for a guy and lamented his opponent winning? Would you wait 4-8 years to have an opinion on the election? This thinking that expressing respectful dissent makes one a hater, nega vol, or a participant in a "public lynching" is what is wrong with culture. People are free to have a dissenting opinion yet be FOR the same thing as others. We all have the same desire here, but different opinions of how to do it. At the end of the day, we are fans and this is a message board. Lets dialogue and quit throwing out rhetoric when there is disagreement. I think its a bad hire but I also think it could work. I am a fan with an opinion, and I don't need to wait a year to form an opinion, but my opinion could change. Happens with humans all the time.

Post of the year!

Ok ok.. Sorry I'm just indifferent about the hire. I'm just waiting until I know for sure and that's after the season.

I don't have a strong opinion. I don't like the hire but I think Butch pretty much has proven that he has this thing under control. So while I would have liked many other coaches better, I believe this could be good.

First everyone did not like the Butch Jones hire, then it was the offensive play, defensive scheme blah, blah, blah. We win the TS Bowl, We get two, I said TWO top 5 recruiting classes, and now, the same people want to ramble on about this hire.......what a bunch of goof balls. Sorry Freak, I tried really hard not to go after these idiots, but I can't stand people that ALL they do is ***** and moan......let the guy coach and then come at him.

CBJ is going to enjoy watching all these NEGAVOLS eat their words.

GO VOLS!!

Exactly

What a cluster this is. I just do not understand some people. Heck, you could give them a million dollars and they would complain about how much the money weighed. Folks, we had a great day in UT football yesterday. But yet there is all this DeBord crap do some of you just enjoy being miserable and sharing your misery with others? SMDH

We are coming back folks. We need to be talkin' smack to the Ga leg humpers, the Gumps, barnners, lizards and everybody else. Not sitting on here complaining about the play calling of a guy who has not called the first play for us yet.

This offense should be 3 yards and a cloud of dust if it resembles the Michigan offenses of the past. (olden days) At least I think I will be able to get a seat. Probably be lots of them available afte we watch it a couple of times.

Although your points are good, there's a level of ignorance to say that you don't like something before you tried it. It was like my kids not wanting to eat a particular veggie before they ever tasted it. I agree, everyone is entitled to their opinion, HENCE, if we disagree with the opinion, then everyone is perfectly within their right to disagree with those disagreements :\ Humans are funny that way, it is perpetual disagreements through the articulation of an opinion. :ermm: :cray:

Anyway, I believe I am more right than you to say, we should allow his body of work on the field to speak for whether or not this was a good hire. I trust CBJ, he is doing better than anyone would had thought to date.

Fair enough. Don't we all start with ann opinion before seeing something play out? Before I order a meal, I am under the opinion it will be good. Not gonna spend $ if I don't think that. However, my opinion will be proven right or wrong. In this case, I don't think its a good hire but I don't have strong feelings about it. Don't hate it. Not saying he will be bad. At this point, it doesn't make sense, but I look forward to seeing this team on the field and hope Debord does great with this opp. I believe in this staff.

I agree, I spewed venom this morning pro DeBord. I have no clue how he will do. I just have faith in CBJ and his vision. I'm not visiting the DeBord threads anymore until the season starts. Then we can argue over the actual product on the field.

All I can say is I can't wait till the Orange & White game!

Go Vols!
