Think its a little different than Fulmer. There were plenty of fans and players that still liked Fulmer. DD on the other hand prolly has very little popularity among fans and players. His own mother hasnt even come to defend him

It's time to fire him. Today.

Enough fans are staying away in protest that the more profitable decision for the rest of the season is to get rid of him. The threat that he might just keep his job if he wins out will continue to drive down attendance, which will hurt AD revenue.

Sure, UT can work the back channels of the coaching search with him still in place. However, as a public institution, they need to fire him to make overt gestures and real offers to other coaches.

As for winning, I believe that you have an even or better chance of winning out with an interim coach. Put Chaney in as Interim HC and start the search already.

This right here is correct!!! Empty stadium equals apathy. We simply cannot tolerate that. Derek must go. The sooner we get on with it, the more selections we have. I will support whatever coach Dave Hart selects. However, after much study, I do feel that Charlie Strong is the personification of exactly what we want as a Tennessee Volunteer Head Football Coach.

The fact that these players have this lingering over their heads is not fair. It is a distraction in its self. Make the announcement...yes or no and be done with it finally. Then the players, fans, and media can go on with business.

BTW....Fulmer-Wyoming....Fulmer at least had a clue once how to be a winner....there is no need for a jury's decision about Dooley being a winner.

Why would any coach want to come to a school where you have nothing but Bickering fans Criticizing your every move? Constant rumors and allegations like a bunch of women in a hair salon!!! No one!

For that reason this University will never be able to hire a big time coach simply because the word is out and truthfully no coach wants to put up with the Bullshat that comes with the job at Tennessee! The only coaches that will give it a try are coaches that want to try and build their name. The key word there is TRY. But hey how can you be successful when recruits won't come here due to negative message boards and the possibility of another coaching change. That is sad folks! Sad!

Recruiting: We are losing recruits every year to these message boards and all the negative talk week in and week out,,,,,,, it's killing us. What is really funny about that is it seems most fans are under the belief that recruits live in caves and thus have no internet connectivity. I am exaggerating of course but anyone who is naive enough to believe that recruits don't read these boards is well,,,,stupid! I apologize if that applies to you but if the shoe fits,,,,,you know?

Sorry for being so blunt but I am convinced gossiping negative fans are contributing to the ruination of this team. I see it every year in our recruiting! In our Coach Hiring! I mean every time we try to get a big time coach I see them turning down this job! Doesn't anyone wonder Why? We have some of the best facilities in the nation, the Academics is top notch, the University's location is in a beautiful area, we are in the SEC, the university leadership is committed to winning and we have some of the deepest tradition in the country. So again, I ask why is there no big time Coaches wanting to Coach at Tennessee!

Simple: Constant Negative FAN Base!

Don't get me wrong, I am just like everyone else when it comes to being upset with the coaching and how the team is playing right now. But I sure as heck don't get on here every chance i get and talk crap about the coaches and players. It is a matter of respect for the school, coaches, players and does nothing to make this team better.

I say offer former DC Wilcox the head coaching position. He is a bright young mind that has coordinator experience and would probably bring Sirmon with him. They can recruit the pants off of you. That would take care of the defensive side of the ball. What do you think, good idea or not?

"Winning Out" what possible difference could winning out make? It does not matter one wit if the Vols beat a whole legion of Vandys, Kentuckys, et al. Is that where this prgram has landed. that the concern is "winning out" over two basketball schools who have never been a speed bump on the football schedule.
You've got to set your sights a bit higher.

And the quicker the better - for the sake of Dooley and his family, UT players, football program finances, recruiting, and our fan base. The longer Hart remains with Cheek under Control's "Cone of Silence" and refuses to take action... the deeper the program will sink into the dark, murky waters of apathy and despair... and, the longer it will take our new coaching staff to get the ship floating again.

That is all I read. Are you serious? What rock have you been living under? Alabama's and Florida's fan base are 1000 X worse about being upset with mediocrity when Shula and Zook were there. That got them Saban and Meyer. A proven winner is going to have an ego that represents that. He knows that he is coming in to do just that win and win alot. Lose and go home. It comes with the territory.

There that settles that.

The really DUMB thing that Hamilton did was to fire Fulmer before he had another coach ready to sign the contract and THAT is how we ended up with CDD.

Now all you people want AD Hart to be just as DUMB and fire CDD before he has a HOMERUN hire ready to sign the contract.

In a position like Tennessee is in with a huge buyout involved you NEVER fire your current coach until AFTER you have the new HOMERUN hire already to go, all the contract details ironed out and the contract drawn up and ready to be signed the SAME day you fire your current HC.

I love our Vols as much as anyone here but the simple FACT is that most coaches do NOT see Tennessee as a good job destination for many reasons.

Just go to the games and cheer on our kids and wait for everything to play out one way or the other.

This is still TENNESSEE football no matter what so real fans are still going to cheer our kids on and support the program.

NOTHING that is said here on VN will make AD Hart or our big businessmen boosters do anything at all.

We are meaningless peons in this situation.
