No one would take the UT job. No coach worth his salt would be "afraid" to walk into our situation. We have plenty of depth and talent on our team. FirIng Dooley now would give a coach enough time to pull everything together. You don't stay in a bad relationship because you're scared of the repercussions. If our administration and boosters are serious about winning on the Hill, it's time they put up or shutup.

That's why everyone lined up during the last two searches. But, but, let's pay 10 million. It's attractive, but not nearly as attractive as fans think.

it's not afraid of so much as "why would I choose to take a job that will be a bigger headache than the one I already have?" Especially a job where the last guy was fired 2 years into his rebuilding after taking over a program in shambles. You may as well sign up to be interpreter for Jabba the Hutt. if you ever go in for a job interview and find out that the upper management has been turned over twice before this hiring process, run. You do not want to work there.
Not to mention, I think every coach secretly wants to quit after having to do their first Vol Calls and seeing what type of fans they are up against.

I don't think there is any way that CDD doesn't have at least one more year at UT. Might as well just count on that. But I'm with you after next year if there aren't huge improvements. Regardless, some assistant coaches need to be shown the door.

Our last athletic director didn't want to pony up enough money for big name coaches

I think a lot were worried with the timing of Kiffs leaving and closing out recruiting. Plus the heat UT was feeling from the NCAA and worries of what kiff had done in his short reign of terror. Its a more attractive job now than it was then.

Kiffin was an nfl head coach, he was a pretty big hire.
Dooley was Hamilton worrying more about a freaking recruiting class than getting a good coach. Look at Ohio State. They're a better program than UT, but they got an interim hc and waited to get a great coach. Many many many great coaches would come here. We are a top 15 team as far as money, facilities, name recognition, and history. If our AD can't sell that, he should go too.

Keep telling yourself that. No one wanted to come in here, work their ass off for 3 years and end up with a ticket out of the coaching profession.

Plenty of talent.... maybe at a few positions, not SEC talent at every position. Plenty of depth.... you're kidding, right???

Much better circustances this time around,

1) no looming NCAA investigation
2) roster is in decent to good shape
3) timing is at our discretion rather than dictated by a snot nosed prick

Stop repeating crap you hear people say. We bring back more talent and depth than everyone in the SEC East outside of Georgia. We're talking next year now. We lost to uk today.

Timing means everything. Not really ever a good time to hire a new coach but UT is a Top 25 job for the money Hamilton was willing to pay, its a Top 10 job for Muschamp money or better.
