The general awfulness of the bubble could still have us in the tourney if we split our last 4 games. I don't believe it but those bubble teams keep losing as well. I think the SEC gets 2 teams in and that's it.

But regardless, I've seen enough (and truth be told, I've had this feeling since middle of 1st year but reinforced last year) and our program will be seriously put behind the 8 ball if we allow this to occur for another year.

We can win out and make the NCAA just four wins is all we need. I have already heard it on several different sites and post. We can always win out. Why couldn't we just beat A&M twice, Vandy, and NC State and not have to say we can win out.:peace2:

I agree on Mooney. It's why I made that earlier post.

The fact that this is the level of coach that we can expect Hart to hire speaks volumes on where this program stands in the national landscape compared to just a few years ago though.

Going to the time worn and cliched stand by of "if you're so smart, you should be coach" retort. Nice.

It's really not hard to figure out that no one on any of Martin's 3 teams can shoot free throws, shoot jumpers consistently, or play smart basketball on the offensive end.

You don't have to be a Wooden or a Knight to recognize bad basketball.

Yep. That's me. But I've never said his recruiting is good. I said he could be a good recruiter and does well in the living room but too often settled for guys that weren't UT caliber. His recruiting overall, other than Stokes, Hubbs and Richardson (and maybe Moore and Thompson) had been atrocious.

People defending Cuonzo make basketball like it's a really complex game that only genius level intellects can understand. But if you've played the game or watched the game for an extended period of time, it's easy to see the dumb decisions that Cuonzo has made, mistakes that middle school girls coaches don't make.

He's been a head coach for how many years now? And he still makes dumb decisions. If he was bringing top notch talent in here, there would be some cause for hope that we could at least out talent other teams, ala Jerry Green, but his recruiting has been very mediocre. I don't think he is as inept or lazy as Wade Houston, not many are, but his tenure has been Buzz Peterson-esque, with recruiting inferior to Peterson's.

I would never have said that. Our recruiting has been terrible. I've said since the beginning that he often thought he was smarter than all the other coaches and could identify talent. Yet all those guys that weren't recruited by the big schools didn't work out for us.

I said when he identified a guy and went after him, he was great in the living room. But we need more talent. One five star a class and 3 also rans isn't going to win you games. And I'm still pretty put off by the way he got handed the keys to our basketball kingdom and the first thing he does is race off to China to coach in the U-20 games instead of recruiting. That same urgency has seemed to permeate all through his career at UT.
