Stop Blaming the Fanbase

Don’t lose to Georgia St at home.

How about showing some passion or lighting a fire up their ass instead of looking like they never played a down of football before?

I just hope Georgia State is the next UCF this year. They went winless and then Self-proclaimed national champions in 1 season.

That being said I won't be surprised if they lose to Furman next week. #volthings

Im not saying we would have won, but I do believe it contributes in some way. Regardless, this fanbase goes bipolar from one game to the next. There is loyalty, but it seems like it comes from immature children who complain and cry at first sight of adversity.

We beat BYU, UTC, then roll into swamp and beat Florida people on here will be mocking JG in 1st round of the NFL draft...mark my words.

This is the 3rd embarassing loss in a row. Bipolar? GTFO

The fact is y’all had unrealistic expectations. Should we expect to lose to GA state? No. But is it some wild fantasy that we did? No. We’ve been flirting with these types of losses this decade.

The simple fact is that the program needs flushing from Butch days. It’s done that with the staff upgrades and hirings.

Sadly the longest part is players and that can only happen at 25 guys per year.

Someone mentioned it yesterday but there should be zero surprise that some players seem uninterested and checked out. Their hopes of playing at the next level ended the minute they committed and then we had Butch’s demise and outing. Pruitt roughly has 50% of the roster as his guys. It’s hard for me to judge him based on 13 games when he doesn’t have a full deck. I’d say the same for any coach.

It is unfathomable that anyone with sentient thoughts wants to blame yesterday on CBJ. This team was ill prepared and is likely to continue to be while this HC is running things.

And the fabulous Strength and Conditioning program so many have crowed about?? 18 months in and we get pushed around by a bottom feeder Sun Belt team.

And they were fired after how many seasons?

Apples and oranges my guy.

Dooley was a rush hire that probably shouldn’t have happened, but his teams had no problems scoring, it was stopping teams from scoring that was the problem.

He probably should’ve been gone after year two.

Butch had the luxury of that legacy class and even produced the best results we’ve seen in a while. The problem with him was he had no real depth to replace that legacy class.

As for Pruitt it’s been rumored this team quit on him during the last half of the season last year, specifically the Mizzou and Vandy games. Seems like that has carried over to this year.

We all can see what’s about to happen and it ain’t good, no need to give him another year if he can’t get this team to play worth a crap against Georgia State. No excuses for that loss.

Everyone who wants to blame the fans. It's by far the most frustrating part of the loss this weekend. It's baffling.
The thread title says "Stop blaming the fanbase". The posts I quoted have you calling out the OP. From here it just looks like you're so mad you don't even know what you're saying.

IMO its way too early to start throwing out the " coach worshipping " label, especially since no one in this thread seems to be worshipping the coach. Its been 13 games, I don't think anyone that wants to wait at least 1 more game just to see what happens before they start calling for him to be fired is a confirmed worshipper.

Just because others don't freak out and act like the world is coming to an end doesn't mean they don't care as much as the ones that do.

Pretty certain RTR was addressing this particular comment...

Definitely the fanbase's fault. It looked like a majority of the stands were empty by halftime. Fans gave up on the team as the team gave up on themselves. You panic and you set an environment of panic in the team when it isn't necessary. Happens time and time again.

Last line of defense for those who can't bring themselves to hold the head coach responsible for the product he puts on the field.

So basically what I'm saying goes completely with the theme of the thread? And no, I don't believe anyone not having some sort of panic actually does care about this program. We see new lows all the time, will it take 0-12?

What's about to happen....if some had their way, is we fire a coach after 13 games and expect the administration to get it right this time. Lmfao.

Mike Gundy turned us and 7 million dollars down.

Dave freaking Doeren turned us down.

Jeff Brohm turned us down.

Mike Leach allegedly would have came here but the AD didn't want him. Still have the same AD.

I get the frustration, I'm there too, but these jackwads running around wanting to go through the same chit again and thinking everyone should jump on that wagon with them or they're idiots are just dumb.

IMO.

We hired a defensive coach from our biggest rival. Look at the people who are winning and then look at our coaches. We don’t spend enough or are attractive enough to secure a top tier coach. I hope Jeremy turns this around soon and we laugh about the GAST debacle as the turning point as we make it to Championships

Yea, I'm not sure who he's talking to or about.

Anyway, that quote you quoted, I don't agree with it.

The players get paid jack squat, but they feel the panic creep in when they look around their stadium and it has emptied out in the second half of a game that is within one score. They hear the chirps, it gets louder inside their head, and once doubt sets in you are fighting an uphill battle.

So many will admit homefield advantage is a real thing, considering it makes a difference in the point spread. Yet, people don't want to admit that fans can not only have a positive impact, but a negative one as well.

IT DOES NOT MATTER. ITS GEORGIA STATE!

I believe what’s about him is this team is about to go maybe 2-10 on the year, that’s assuming we can actually beat UTC and UAB.

The second part of your points there all goes back to the then AD at the time trying to hire a guy for the HC job that has failed every where he’s been.

Which caused a chain reaction of fans voicing displeasure and coaches not wanting to get in the middle of it.

Had Currie actually took the time to try and get someone worth a crap instead of listening to people he shouldn’t have, he’d probably still have a job here and we might not have lost to Georgia State on Saturday.

So in the end, the administration caused this whole fiasco and now we got a coach who apparently can’t get his team motivated to beat a team coming off a 2-10 season of their own. We literally saved Sean Elliot’s job this past weekend.

I’m not blaming Butch for the loss but Butch has a lot of blame to share for the roster.

Fact is that Pruitt doesn’t have a full deck

So a team quit on their new coach, who didn’t recruit 75% of them.

Shocking and surprising I guess. It’s almost like people who were recruited by Butch may not have liked Pruitt. This happens everywhere.

Lets see Pruitt when his team is made up of his players that make up the majority of the roster aka 3 years.

And as I said, we’ve flirted with near losses like this to garbage teams for this entire decade. I’m mad and numb about it but I’m not saying Fire Pruitt after 13 games. That’s dumb

You can't be serious. You want to blame the one paying to go over and over again and not the ones being paid millions to not get beat by Ga State?

Seriously anyone thinking the fans have any factor in what we saw need to get over themselves real bad.
I agree. You can’t blame the fans. The team should not take the fans for granted and, in fact, should be totally embarrassed by that lackluster performance and in the two games to end last season. This is supposed to be entertainment and, right now, it hardly qualifies.

I woke up Saturday morning excited to go see a football game against GEORGIA STATE. I spent over $200 when you count tickets, parking, concessions and after game much-needed libations. I cheered and sweated my tail off for that effort? I just wish our players seemed to care half as much as our fans do. They are making it much easier to stay at home and watch good football on TV, but I'll probably show up again on Saturday, now let's just hope our team decides to get excited about a football game.

That’s on the coaches then, it’s their job to get these players to buy in, if they can’t then obviously they’re not doing something right. You can’t honestly sit there and say with a straight face that NONE of those players from Butch’s team aren’t bought in. If that’s the case then Pruitt needs to be shown the door yesterday.

I promise ya if he goes 2-10 he ain’t getting a third year, you don’t regress that bad and expect to keep your job. Hell even Dooley lead teams never regressed this bad, they might not have improved but they never regressed to the point of losing to GEORGIA STATE!!!!!

Make all the excuses you want but Pruitt will get fired if he doesn’t figure out what the issue is.
