Stop Blaming COVID

Your denial that CLOVID is problem is simply untrue. COVID has adversely affected everything in this Nation and It has Not been selective in its target. We, as humans, have denied that this virus would and has caused countless problems in every aspect of the World's societies. It has mostly affected those who deny the devastating consequences of this disease. I agree that its affects differ among individuals, but the destruction this virus has caused is undeniable.
As to our football team and the basketball teams, it has caused unmeasurable problems, especially when a large number of our better athletes are very young players who most need practice and instruction. It is folly to deny these facts . I agree that there is some blame which can be placed on the coaching staffs and but COVID is the major problem which all sports are facing which have to been faced in the last 100 years. Look at what has happened in MLB, NFL, NBA, And all professional sports. Look at hat it has done to our economy. Look at hat it has done to our educational systemsLook at the over 270,000 premature deaths from the virus. Surely you are smart enough to realize we are in the middle of a major Pandemic.
COVID is not a excuse for our failures because every team experienced the same problems, some teams even more than UT.

You have your opinion and I have mine. For the most part, we disagree. As in so many of these threads, It's futile to continually beat our proverbial dead horses by arguing issues that, for the most part, can't be proven one way or the other.

In the case of VolNation vs Pruitt, time will tell. One thing that's not really arguable is Tennessee, as of late, has a terrible track record of decision making in the AD. So unfortunately, IMO, he will get at least another year.

My bad, I'll stop replying to you. I get pretty aggravated with a few individuals on here (you're not one of them), but I'm really looking for conversation on this stuff. I'm not trying to pawn off my ideas as gospel... I'm just trying to provide a point of view that's more centered than a lot of what I read on here.

Anyway, again, my bad....

Nothing wrong with having opinions. Sometimes folks get to... uhh... aggressive when expressing them though. I'm guilty of it too occasionally.

No worries, You're good..

You had a returning head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator.

You had 16 returning starters.

Compare that to an Arkansas with a new everything and hadn’t won a conference game since 2017.

I’m not saying COVID did not cause problems, but Tennessee was actually in a better position to potentially handle it than anyone else.
Minus the statue at QB

I'll tell you why I don't buy it in Tennessee's case.

They're getting worse.

If it was like last season where they struggled out of the gate and got better as the year went along, I'd be more likely to buy the COVID argument.

But, they, like South Carolina, looked better during game 1 than they do right now.
I agree. This isn't all on Covid. I personally think it has more to do with personnel decisions and adjustments (lack thereof) by the coaching staff. The team does not trust JG to not mess it up for them and yet they still trot him out there. I could be completely off because I haven't watched every single time he gets knocked down, but from what I have noticed more than a few times is that no one helps him up when he gets sacked. When he throws an INT, no one tries to encourage him and pick him up. Its like his own team doesn't even like him and that's essential for the team to like the QB, IMO. The second UT gets behind, they know JG is unlikely to bring them back and the effort from some or most of them definitely reflects in their play. I sincerely hope that the next 3 games are JG's last in a UT uniform. I don't care if he takes up professional basket weaving or whatever but do not even be an option for next year. If he is, Pruitt wont make it to game 6 (if he doesnt get fired this year and I dont think he will) because JG "gives" UT the best opportunity to win.

It’s been said before, but JG is blameless.

The staff is responsible for finding someone better than him to play.

Not his fault, they think he’s the best you have
You're 100% correct and I would even go a step further. The staff is responsible for having the tough conversations and benching a QB that deserves it to give other QBs the chance to earn the spot from his performance in a game and not just practice.

What I think covid has shown us in sports is that if you are not already really good, missing the off season sort of cripples you. Teams that were already winning and those that were on a sharp rise, are doing fine. Those that were already struggling have it worse. Sorry for just stating the obvious.

To say covid has had no impact on this football season is crazy talk, no spring practice, limited work outs etc.. I mean we're playing guys that never even practiced before pre season. We're not a very well coached team right now, and there's some negative rumbling going on in the locker room. Pruitt must get everyone on the same page or this ain't going to work. Covid isn't an excuse it is what it is. Covid isn't the only reason but is a reason.

I’ve read numerous posts around the FB forum, how COVID is the main reason why we’re struggling this year.

Why not just admit Pruitt and his staff have failed developing a serviceable QB to replace JG?

Why does our defense continue to struggle with defending the slant pass?

Sorry but getting stomped by Kentucky and Arkansas in year 3 is NOT because of COVID.

Every team has been dealing with this pandemic, not just us.

This excuse has to stop.
I don't know who you are or what your doing but let me tell you something. You don't come on here discussing covid 19. Do you understand me?
