Stop Apologizing for the Fan Base

Schiano might be an innocent man, but you don’t go there for the position of Head Coach of Tennessee. Competent leadership would have discreetly declined Schiano as a candidate, and then the fans wouldn’t have had to loudly do what should have happened quietly.

There's a huge difference in wanting to distance one's self from his allegations and the crucifiction that was orchestrated by the UT fan base yesterday.

The former is totally acceptable and I'm actually on board with. The latter was ridiculous and an embarrassment.

Look man, maybe GS didn't see Jerry in the shower with boys. But if the numbers of accusers and the length of time this went on are correct.
Kids traveling to the games, staying in Jerry's motel room spending the night etc.

These type of predators are brazen, touchy feely. Grab assing, wrestling. Parading around naked in the locker room, a lot.

You would have been a blind fool to not at least expect something was going on.
A lot of people turned their head, you can bet on that.

Agreed. Nothing but blind fools AND head turning POS's with that situation

The calls are screened. These shows are purposely putting on pro-Shiano callers. It's by design.

There may be millions of Vol fans on planet Earth and we hear the same 5 or 6 guys calling in every day .

They screen calls for sure

I’ll say it again.

I live in PA and my husband is on the Penn State Alumni Board in our city. We both know major boosters in Penn State.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind Schiano knew. Everyone knew and I mean EVERYONE! This school is a cult and they gladly covered up the sins of Sandusky to keep the school and Paterno happy. Players used to joke about not dropping the soap when Sandusky was around. If players joked about it you damn well know Schiano knew, not to mention the fact that he answered to Sandusky. He knew.

Now before you jump on my and my husband, my husband is not a part of the cult. He supports his school because he went to a satellite school in Behrand but he refuses to buy the BS that Paterno is a saint and knew nothing.

Yep. By all accounts, at all levels of his coaching career, he is widely known as one of the biggest jerks in the business. And that's who Currie thought would fit best here? Not in my wildest dreams did I think even the UT administration could be so oblivious, out of touch, and downright stupid.

Yes and we just got rid of the other biggest Jerks in the business!:thud:

Saying he sucks is one thing..... saying he's a child rapist is another

I am 100% fine with us standing up as a fan base and demanding a better hire. It's cool that we have that power. I'm ashamed that we have made wild and unfounded accusations to get our way.

Apparently some of you morons think the fan base is full of idiots and keep calling into sport talk shows apologizing for not hiring Greg Shiano.
I got news for you turds, even if he didn't have any association with Sandusky I wouldn't want him as our head coach because he sucks as a coach!

Shiano was a lose lose. The dumb ass that brought up his name as a candidate should be fired immediately. Oh that was Currie.

Exactly. Another Butch

I hate it, but y'all are wrong about him not being a good coach. Sucks, y'all f'd up this time.

Yeah, he's 4 years removed from being fired at TB. Filled the that time at Berkley Prep and working for a POS.

You might broaden your b!thin to pretty much everybody not named Jimmy Haslem, and his puppet John Currie. Nobody else wanted him either.

Great account. Thank you. Part of my concern on all of this as well. Open secret.

If Currie was going to pick a coordinator for the Head Coaching position he should have looked at someone UT Fans could unite behind like Tee Martin. Schiano is not a good fit, even if he were to be successful here.

When any protest breaks out, it’s going to include varying levels of discord. I personally would not have painted the Rock or held a sign that assumes the guilt of Schiano.
If we had real leadership who cared about this place, none of this would have happened.

You may not be able to if it was part of a deposition.

He's known to be an arrogant douche, but it's highly unlikely he saw Sandusky molesting kids

Why is this unlikely? People witness things all the time and never report it. Only person that really knows the truth is Schiano and it’s not like he’s going to come out and say yup, ya got me, I saw it and didn’t report it.

Good grief. Most folks just stated that they did not want anyone associated with PSU during that time as the face for the program.

There is absolutely nothing wild and unfounded in that.

And it will go by the wayside, be ignored by every sports media outlet, and never be talked about because it does not meet an agenda, or create "clicks". Sad!

Real leadership would have never entertained him as a candidate.
