Apparently some of you morons think the fan base is full of idiots and keep calling into sport talk shows apologizing for not hiring Greg Shiano.
I got news for you turds, even if he didn't have any association with Sandusky I wouldn't want him as our head coach because he sucks as a coach!

Shiano was a lose lose. The dumb ass that brought up his name as a candidate should be fired immediately. Oh that was Currie.

Yep. By all accounts, at all levels of his coaching career, he is widely known as one of the biggest jerks in the business. And that's who Currie thought would fit best here? Not in my wildest dreams did I think even the UT administration could be so oblivious, out of touch, and downright stupid.

Saying he sucks is one thing..... saying he's a child rapist is another

I must have missed where folks were saying that. Most were referencing the testimony that was included in the Washington Post article - that implied he saw something.
Yes I know he denied it. But it is still out there unresolved.

It's not unresolved, there's nothing to it. The tn fanbase just made it into something in their dense skulls

Why do we even focus on this? Why not focus on the fact that he was universally hated by his former staff members and players in the NFL? Why not focus on that he has been shown to be a liar, backstabber, micro manager, cruel, divisive, paranoid, vindictive person? Why are so many people who played for/worked with him of this opinion? What about this man would be a REMOTELY good fit at UT?

If someone said that I saw something and did nothing to stop/prevent it, I'd sue them. Wouldn't want my name attached to it.

You may not be able to if it was part of a deposition.

He's known to be an arrogant douche, but it's highly unlikely he saw Sandusky molesting kids

I was proud of the fan base yesterday for taking a hard stand against an unacceptable hire. Now, the attacks against Schiano over Sandusky were indeed unfair and I'm sure he is a good coach who can win somewhere but he was not the right fit here. He was never going to be embraced by this fan base. He looked too much like a Butch Jones redux. This was a tone deaf move by John Currie who grossly miscalculated UT fans and how much of a stir we can create when we're pi$$ed.

Everybody watch and see how long it takes OSU to find cause to dump their jerk rather than our jerk. We dodged a major league bullet. The guy himself is not a child rapist, under oath a person said he understood Schiano thought something was going on and did nothing to stop or report it. Could have saved a lot of kids a lot of pain by just manning up. He's a .500 football coach why the hell would we hire somebody as our coach with that sort of abysmal stat dropping the character thing altogether?

Actually it is unresolved. As far as I know the one who testified under oath has not been arrested for perjury or had a lawsuit filed against him.

So it is one man's word verses the other - and both were at PSU and part of the mess. And both have been trying to separate and save themselves from that.

A man testified under oath (and in doing so IMPLICATED >HIMSELF< meaning he told the truth) that Greg Schiano knew.

The national media has always hated UT and loves the Big 10.

McQueary said another coach said Schiano told him he saw something disturbing .... while McQueary admitted he DID see Sandusky molesting a boy and did nothing other than beat on the wall to let Sandusky know someone was near!!!! He's just looking for some company so he won't be the ONLY one.

I really hope you don't believe this, but I know you do.

Not only that but I can think of about 7 million reasons why he might be less than truthful.

Not saying he was lying but let's not pretend like it's out of the realm of possibility.

There is nothing to apologize for if you don't want the program associated with anyone connected to Sandusky or Penn State football.

Schiano was not accused at Penn State of being a child rapist. He was accused of keeping his mouth shut. And I wonder if that was his chief qualification for the Tennessee job, to whoever pushed for the hire. His coaching record is not much of a recommendation.

Schiano might be an innocent man, but you don’t go there for the position of Head Coach of Tennessee. Competent leadership would have discreetly declined Schiano as a candidate, and then the fans wouldn’t have had to loudly do what should have happened quietly.

Truth or not, I would not want to associate my name or the organization I am representing with any red flag to that degree. I'm an outsider here, but I was astonished they either missed this or didn't think this red flag could be potentially used at some point.

What is easier fight for a guy who may or may not been associated or not having to fight at all because you avoided the situation?
