Stop all the arguing; just answer two questions

It would not surprise me. Don't most like their coach? Who have you spoken to in private to know how they feel about him and what is going on?

Why would you ask me a question like that. I didn't claim I had some insider information on anything. I'm just saying what I think. Good post though

I have not seen where a final decision has been made. Apparently you have.

the school president made a statement that he hoped tressel would not get rid of him.

minds can be changed, but i doubt they will get rid of tressel.

1. no (my answer is based on jim tressel. if it's ok for tressel to stick around, i don't see why it's not ok for pearl to stick around).

2. yes.

Who says it's okay for Tressel to stick around, other than himself?

Yes and yes. Especially the first one.

I asked because it looked like you were making a claim. I did not see the words, “I think the kids love him…”, anywhere in your post.

I would not blame them if they felt some anger, disappointment, sense of betrayal towards him because of the position he put them in and how they year has gone.

Really??? I'm not trying to get into an argument here but you thought I had insider info because I didn't put I Think in front of my statements.

Yes and yes. Especially the first one.

we'll start with.....

the university president
the athletic director
the buckeye fan base

there are probably others.

the main point is that pearl lied and covered up a cookout for high school prospects who didn't even sign to play at the university of tennessee.

tressel covered up information about players on his team who would have been ineligible had he not covered up the information. he also lied about having such knowledge to the ncaa.

pearl is being tarred and feathered, while tressel is being spoken of as a great man who made a mistake.

the double standard bothers me.

i agree.

but, you watch. tressel will keep his job and the ncaa will not punish him as harshly as pearl.

pearl will be out of a job because he lied about a cookout. a damn cookout.

this is not to excuse pearl who should be punished.

but, it was a flippin cookout.

No, Pearl will be out of a job because he lied about a stupid little violation then cried on tv...then knowingly committed another violation. Good grief, I cannot believe the ignorance of some people thinking that all of this is happening because Pearl grilled out for some recruits. You think Aaron Craft reported this because there was no pork at the cookout? No, it's because it wasn't legal. Also, don't forget the illegal phone contact.

OH! And then he told the recruits and parents to lie about it, also! So he f'ed up, lied, told recruits to lie, cried, then f'ed up again. He dug his own grave.

I am teacher, 4th grade, so the issue of lying comes up all the time. If someone lies you cannot fully trust them again, ever. No matter how hard you try, you always know he lied and may do it again. Pearl will never be fully trusted ever again. I would not want my son to play for a coach who basically looked the NCAA in the eye and lied, and then he asked the people involved to help him cover it up.
Then nobody trusts anybody, because people lie.

Come on now. As much as I want Pearl gone for what he did, there is quite a bit of hypocrisy surrounding Tressel's situation at the moment.

And what were the UT counterparts saying about Pearl at the beginning of the investigation? Things change.
