Stoops showing Tennessee respect!

He's making a point about strengthening your case on a year-to-year basis by scheduling games with good OOC opponents.

I agree with him, and I think it's a good knock on teams like Baylor who think they can just schedule whoever and get respect with their record.

Me too. Hats off to both the Sooners and the Vols for scheduling each other (although the Vols have almost always stepped out of conference for at least one decent game per year-dont know about OU).

For Stoops, OK playing UT is a great matchup but when bama plays UT it is just another conference game. Go figure.

Careful there.

Just because Kentucky gets rolled on a regular basis, doesn't mean we do. Besides, we had a lot of injuries throughout the year where OU stayed relatively healthy. At full strength, I would definitely like another shot at them. Maggitt doesn't get injured and we win that game along with the Florida game and end up 10-2 playing for the conference championship.

On how secure he feels being #3 in the playoff rankings:

Of course, it's all self-serving. He is just building us up so that they look better. Does kind of make me feel good as a Tennessee fan to read it though. Beating a strong Tennessee team on the road is the main argument he comes up with.

Wish we could get another shot at them.

We had our chance and blew it; coaches AND players....

OU tends to get some bigger teams on the schedule. Just in the past 5 years, they've had home and home series with UT, FSU and Notre Dame. And have Houston and Ohio State on the schedule for next year and 2017.

I'll give them credit, they have cupcakes like every other team, but they tend to have at least one big name on their schedule every year.

I'm always amused by fans who get all juiced up when a team, coach, or player that is better or beat them pays them a compliment.

110,000? I was there and they said 102K and change. He must have been counting all the bodies buried under the field to help fertilize it. That is where the Body Farm is right?

102K is all that UT will ever announce even if there are more people than that actually in the stadium. That is seat capacity. Doesn't count players, ushers, media standing around the field, concession stand workers, etc.

Yep he is making his case since his conference doesn't have a conference championship game and got shut out of the playoffs last year because of it.

That's partly correct. It was more that they didn't choose a single conference champion, and chose two co-champions instead. A championship game would have cleared it up.

By NCAA rule, a Conference must have at least 12 playing members in order to have a CCG. Playing each team in the conference as the B12 does, what sense would it make to have a CCG?? There is no escaping a particular team or two one year and a couple the next. The B12 commish flubbed up last year by declaring Co-Champs instead of declaring one, based on H2H competition.

TN is still on a roll and should finish 9-4, barring any crazy thing in a bowl game. That's something to build on for next year. As for schedules, these games scheduled so far out, one never knows what kind of team one will face. Every team should improve over the course of the season. I believe TN and OU did just that. Should be an interesting 2016 for sure.

One of my favorite moments is when Trevor Knight was trying to communicate with OC Lincoln Riley and you could read Riley's lips "I can't hear you."

And they used to have one, never heard why they stopped. It might have been different last year if they declared a champion like they did this year. We saw what TCU did to that same Ole Miss team that beat Ala. I don't think anybody would have beaten Ohio st last year in the playoffs, they were on a different level then. But would like to see the Big 12 adding a championship game,it would only benefit them.

B12 only has 10 members, chose a round robin format for Conference with 3 OOC games for each member.

They'd have to add 2 teams NCAA won't allow a conf champ game with less than 12 teams

Do you guys want another shot at us? ;)

I just hope next year we finally put a respectable product on the field and don't get blown out again. 2015 UT game was about the most depressing game I've ever seen.

Did you miss the early season "giveaway" from UT?

Yes. And then I saw OU play one of the toughest stretches of games and lose one neutral game to Texas. UT unfortunately struggled to close out good opponents when they should have. I absolutely think UT can hang with anyone, but I don't have the confidence they would beat OU on a neutral meeting later. TIFWIW. My opinion is just an opinion from a non UT fan.
