Stone moving to DT?

give me some credit. At least I tried to explain to you why this was an idea that made no sense in the real world instead of just calling you football iq impaired and dumb....

notice I said agility and quickness, not speed. "busting" through the line by a dtackle that generally weighs less than a olineman isn't done by speed or only by size and strength, it's done by quickness and agility. Im not trying to sound harsh, it's just if you follow college football closely, you'd know why what your saying got foamed so badly, it's just silly. Especially an guard. The main difference between interior linemen and tackles is that tackles have quick enough feet to handle edge rushers. If you don't have the agility to do this, then no way on earth do you play dtackle.

How about a thread about capital letters instead?

oh a capital letter cop now. good to know our fans are so concerned with grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. that's probably why they make so many threads that are completely ignorant of football.

I checked through your 15 posts. Posts 1, 2, and 10-15 have been nothing more than negative tripe that wasn't even related to UT football.

That's 8 posts. More than half of your posts don't even relate to UT football, and you want to criticize others for posting for being "completely ignorant of football." I'd like to ask you to stop spamming. Kthxbye

The guy would be a beast at DT.

don't see that happening. these young OL will have to be the OLD OL in 2011. they need the experience on offense, not defense..

we are short handed on both lines. Moving kids around, doesn't help over all. hurts whatever they do.

back in early 80s, we were so depleted at DT, they ended up putting a 220 pound LB at DT for the last half of season. When injuries start taking toll in October, no telling who will be playing where..

us, and it tells you the feasibility of moving an olineman to dt when they will put lighter ends or linebackers there before a big lug of a guard.

It was a valid question. Who cares if he started a new thread. What's it hurt? Gth.

I'm with you on that one, UT's#1Fan. There are actually people who take it upon themselves to make rules on who can start a new thread? Wow.

although i dont believe Stone will move to DT...IMO there are going to be multiple position moves with other players because of our lack of depth at certain positions..as long as we can stay healthy i believe our first string on both sides of the ball will be darn good...I'm looking forward to seeing how much Montori Hughes has improved.

Our first string will be good, except part of the oline and don't know what qb will look like. Our twos in general will not be good and this means we will be somewhere around 6-6.

i agree..the Oline probably will be the downfall of the team..but players sometimes tend to overachieve so im gona be hopeful that this will be the case..in 2-3 years i think our o-line will be one' of the best in the SEC...IMO our schedule is brutal ..i believe anything above .500 next season will be a success..we will see what these coaches are all about

I'm so glad a thread this stupid is in the top 5. I don't usually flame people but come on man. You can't just come up with an idea on your own and start a thread with a ridiculous title, but with a question mark to make it look like there might be something to it.

Next time try "Do you think Stone will be considered at DT?"

Please explain what gave you this idea

Well from some of these comments i have read about my post telling me how stupid and ignorant i am.They must have been several guys on here that have seen the kid play i have seen about 12 of his games as a jr and sr year. With this said im sure all the how stupid i am comments none of you guys have seen him play. From the video's i have seen of the top DT they were not any better then this kid.OL are alot easier to find then a clog the middle up and create havoc DT.With some time in the weight room to turn some of the fat to muscle to lean him up a bit his agilty and quickness will get better.Unless you watched the kid play ball in highschool they should not be any reason to call anyone a idiot or fool.

I think what you just posted holds your answer to this question. You're correct that dtackles are much more rare. If someone is seen to have that ability, I guarantee that is the position the kid would be recruited to play. You also talked about improving agility and quickness and those are keys to being a good dtackle. Yes, some dtackles are huge mountains, but the difference between who plays dtackle and who plays oline has less to do with size and more about quickness. It takes more agility and quickness to play offensive tackle than guard. That's why otackles are more valuable than guards. Many of the great ones in the league are paid a much higher premium than guards. If a player has the athletic ability to play d tackle, that's where he will be recruited, if not then otackle, if not there.... Then guard. Supplement his projected position by the fact that he had some trouble with athletic defensive ends and you don't have to watch a second of highschool game play to know he will not play at dtackle. I hope you see that I have never said you were stupid or dumb. I dont think that at all, i just think you really don't know alot about the mote technical aspects of football.

Yes i guess i dont understand the technical aspects of football. If i did i would have been recruited to a division 1 school instead of division 2 schools. If only i would have known you in the early 90' i may be retired from the nfl now.
