Many dont have to pay for a meal and sponsorship opportunities are abundant. If I was 20 or 21 and could go play in Italy or Spain for $500k plus other incentives, I would jump on it.

Me too, and it's not even close. They're able to go over seas and make CEO money without the grueling amount of schooling.

I'd love to go play ball and do television ads for Chinese energy drinks or something weird.

Gottlieb takes a shot at Stokes (ouch!)

Bad look for Jarnell Stokes

Jarnell Stokes is leaving Tennessee and entering the draft. Stokes is probably shorter than the 6-8 he's listed at, and will be fortunate to be drafted. He will collect a check somewhere and may make the NBA as he is tough and can score at the block, but I think his decision is just plain dumb. He has no face-up game and a year in college would give him a better shot at making the league, or making a bigger check overseas. It's not helping that the draft is stacked this year too.

But the most bothersome part of his departure is his statement to Wes Rucker about how "In college, they sell your jersey for $100 in the mall ... That would pay the cell phone bill we can't afford."

First, no one is paying $100 for a mall-bought Stokes Jersey (would love to see the numbers on Tennessee basketball jersey sales), and second why should college have to pay your cell phone bill? You would have a cell phone bill with or without college. Additionally, players work camps, can have a job at anytime they want in or out of season to pay for their cell phones if they so desire, but Stokes instead would rather take the easy way out -- blame the NCAA.

since Gottleib stole $900 from his college roommate at ND and got booted, he should stfu. Stick with pg play as he was a nasty pg that couldn't shoot for nothing but found a way to make every player better. Skip the talk about needing or wanting money in college. Can't believe nobody calls him out.

Dear Spartacavolus....you were right about Stokes and I was wrong, and while I agree with Gottleib in terms of Stokes making a questionable move, I absolutely hate a thief. I wonder if the guys at ESPN keep their desks locked when Doug is in the office. Also, I'm fairly sure Stokes lifted the jersey line straight from a Chris Webber interview, and people were paying 100 bucks for Webber's college jersey.

I called him out on twitter. We'll see if he feels the need to respond. What sucks about Gottlieb is he knows his stuff he's just such an arrogant douche about it.

I know this is hard some on here, but how about we get behind our players and support them. Instead of downing him, get behind him and congratulate him that he is getting a chance to accomplish his dream. People didn't think Hopson would ever get a shot at the league...lol yeah. People said CJ Watson wouldn't ever stay in the league...lmao and people said Tobias Harris had no position in the league. He was too small for the 4 and to slow for the 3...yep they were right...not. So how about for once we get our head out of our asses and we support our players.

Ps: If he sucks so bad or isn't good enough, why do you want him back for another year?
