One big issue I am seeing is administration not allowing money to be spent. We earn the most revenue in the SEC at $109.6 million but are 9th in spending at only $29 million. If you look at the 3 highest schools in spending Alabama, Auburn and Georgia, they are all still in the conversation for the playoffs! These rumors of UT ponying up $6-8 million a year for a big time coach is just wrong! It was rumored that Currie had a agreement with Brohm but Davenport would not sign off on it because of the money. Currie went back with a lesser amount and was turned down. Until we are willing to spend some more money, we are going to have to settle for middle of the road coaching! One last thing, Currie has not helped this situation with anything he has done!
Check out these numbers in this article!

Too bad he works for Gov. Haslam who is related to the guy controlling the pursestrings.

Why spend $340 million to upgrade an empty stadium?

If it's true Schiano was coming in for $3.5 million per year that was less made than CBJ who we had just canned. That was the WRONG direction and demonstrates there was no commitment to win, just to put a placeholder on the program until the next poor schnook got sacrificed.

You ever wonder why UT cannot compete with the likes of Florida and Alabama in the classroom and on the athletic fields?

Both of those Universities have decisive “go big or go home” mentalities in their leadership. Tennessee is still stuck in the 70s.

I know this is completely off subject but I don't have enough posts to start a thread. Why is nobody mentioning that Haslem has been linked to a scandal with the flying J business. Why is the UT Administration listening to someone who if found guilty may be serving years in prison. You can read about it on 247Sports.

Not shifting blame away from Currie, but who controls Currie? I think we all know the answer and if you don't then just google Tennessee Vols Football....seriously....But at the same time Currie took this job knowing who was the boss and who he had to please.....he just didn't think he would have to make a move so quickly into his tenure. I bet if you were friends with Currie and asked him if he wished he would have stayed in Manhattan, KS, I could almost guarantee the answer would be opposite of the words "Heaven" and "No".
