Firstly, I trust Fulmer to get it right, so this guy will probably work out well. It still doesn't soothe my ruffled feathers for the abysmal manner in which this was handled. Why it is that other schools in the SEC can conduct their affairs and reach a reasonable solution and we can't ? We have money, a large and interested fan base , tradition, etc. Yet, we are doomed to be the punch-line of jokes all over the country by the absolute incompetence of our putative "leaders" . First , there is the every 4 year ego-trip by Gruden at our expense, then the predictable trolls from Kiffin ( a genuine sociopath) then Currie hires a coach almost no one would have and then makes a spectacle by publicly flying coast to coast begging second-line guys to take the job. Why should this have turned into another unforced error and damaged the UT brand so much. Where do we find these people with their golden parachutes - so that when they fail , we still owe them millions? It is a puzzle. The Gruden thing reminds me of Lucy pulling the ball away from Charlie Brown. We fall for it every time.

It's not a puzzle. We have incompetent leadership across the board that is propped up by a more wholesome incompetent board that derives its power from a broken arrangement and political system within the state. Add on top of that a toxic environment among the prominent boosters who are fueled more by their power and greed than they are what's best for the university and you have the cluster **** we find ourselves in every time we have to hire a coach.

The Gruden thing was a creation of the fans. No one associated with the Athletic Department ever end mentioned Gruden as a candidate. The fans are falling for their own imaginary friend.

Glad you started this thread OP...we would never have seen any of this in the 276 other threads discussing this.

Get it right. No "We" didn't fall for the Gruden thing. A very small percentage of VN posters did which seems to have included you.

To Jack8254,the millions we owe will not go to Schiano.Who would be sure about celebrating his character,VOL Nation?IT never said any word about his Penn State stay.Only money possible would be his and Currie's mou.Chancellor did not sign it.He can officially go poss up a rope along with Urban Cryer.

Jon gruden trolled the fanbase for dollars. That's the bottom line and I am saying this and lived in the Gruden threads for months both coaching go rounds 2012 and 2017. Here's to hoping Pruitt is the right man even though even though he's Bama blood. Dilly dilly!
