After seeing these same players bring it to Oklahoma, Florida, Bama, and Georgia last year...I am still a firm believer that Hokie feathers are going to be plucked all over that race track. The game plan was so basic...vanilla...weak like circus lemonade. That was not a Shoop-blitzburg defense...that was we have better athletes...unmotivated...but better...and we will line up and just beat you. Same goes for the offense...basic as can be.

Appy State on the other hand played this game like a bowl game. Problem is this staff not trying to tip your hand for next week drained the life and energy out of our team....against a really solid well coached veteran team that was ranked 26th in total offense and 11th in total defense a season ago. This happens to teams that are better on paper all the time....2007 BAMA vs La-Monroe...2013 Florida vs Georgia Southern...1989 So. Miss vs Florida St...2007 Navy vs Notre Dame...2006 UCLA vs NFL roster USC...2010 Jacksonville St. vs Ole Miss...1999 La. Tech vs BAMA...2010 James Madison vs VA. TECH...1998 Temple vs VA. TECH...and finally 2007 Appy State vs Michigan....all major upsets with no business losing to that level of athletes but all did.

I say this embarrassment will light a fire and we are about to see a beat down like we did against Iowa and Northwestern next Saturday. If they don't then Butch is in for some trouble from this fan base....but I think last night was the best thing for this team that could have ever happened. Now they can "OWN IT" because they nearly changed their slogan to "BLOWN IT" last night.

I think we played ultra-conservative and got caught sleeping. Mistakes nearly cost us an easy win. This team will show up big next week.

While everyone is laughing at us nationally in the media and at work, I can guarantee that Justin and Jim are shaking in their boots. We just played the worst game in recent memory, played it vanilla(not an excuse), and won. the team has been humbled and I firmly believe they will lay a path of destruction from here on out. I don't feel one bit for whats coming to the rest of our opponents.

No doubt we will demolish Va tech.

We'll I'd say there is some doubt. But that doesn't matter.

I do think we bounce back and win. I don't believe we regressed that much from the team that ended last season winning six straight. I think we just didn't come to play last night. We shall see

I want to believe what you say is true, I honestly do. I have caught myself making excuses all day long for our showing last night, however I have not convinced myself of it yet. Of all the things that went wrong last night in my mind only two things scare me, our interior O-Line and our play-calling. I am hoping the vanilla idea caused the play-calling to be how it was, but our O-Line being pushed around by guys much smaller than ours is a serious cause to be concerned.

I have for the last several years have used this "lets not show them what we got" mentality and it seems to help me get out of my sudden weekend depression, but I wish we would just line up, play smash mouth and say "hey, this is what we got, see if you can Stop us!"

I have had to eat much crow today, I am in Alabama and one of my good friends here is also a Gator fan so I am getting it from all directions. I only smiled today and repeated the phrase, "its all in our plans fellers", but I was seriously disappointed last night, I hope it is as many are saying... I will not make judgement until I see us next week. I hope the feathers fly next week and we win and it is not questioned as to who came to play.

Go Vols:clapping:

It's simple. The talent is there. Coaches have to show up. Get the oline fixed asap. Two BIG PROBLEMS. But if they happen, we win in a blowout. If not, it's gonna be a long game again.

Truth is that this team has an abundance of skill & talent.

Last season's wake up call was the straight up revolt by the fans and the roasting they received by the media following the close losses. The performance of our coaching staff and players against the Neers has rapidly elicited a similar response. This season's wake up call occurred early, and with a win.

We'll be fine...

I've had to resort to reminding the turkeys about their excellent showing against JMU multiple times today. Living in Roanoke, I'm surrounded by Hokies. If we lose, I might need to move as I've been running my mouth since they announced the game.

A Florida fan is the last one that should be giving grief over games like this. Your only response should be GSU and FAU.
