I can only guess that it looked like Brazzell pushed him when he just swam past him. The guy who made the call did so from the back of the end zone. Impressive arm strength to throw that flag about 40 yds. The closer official didn't flag it.

There is something going on. Either refs are involved with organized gambling or the conference is protecting certain teams to keep them ranked high. This is going on in other conferences as well. The 'no call' against Ga Tech where there guy was a yard offsides cost Wake Forest the win. Look at the Georgia game with us. The Georgia wide receiver pushed our guy away so the throw could drop in to him and there would be no chance for our defensive back to break the pass up. Another one - Georgia receiver four feet from the sideline and the pass went fifteen feet over his head. Couldn't have caught it if he was on an eight foot ladder but pass interference was called. Look at what happened to Auburn against Oklahoma and these refs are looking at the instant replay.

They should just not be able to stop or review the play if the ball has been snapped already.

The proper 15 yard penalty would have taken them out of range and put them way behind the sticks.

Every game will have a call that goes against you or for you which could change the outcome. The best thing is to win enough plays/score enough that you have insurance against such bad calls. If you live on the razors edge of victory/defeat you are going to get cut. Heupel needs to get his team to play at a higher level, minimize mistakes.

People have been talking about that since review became a thing. There was some noise about it a while back, but it was quickly dismissed.

It is the one penalty that should be reviewable, but it will never happen.

Why would the refs care about this? If anything, I would think they like the extra time to catch their breath too after our offense's high tempo.

Yeah, I saw that too. I think the official further away reacted because the db dropped to the ground and the ref assumed it was because of a push. Terrible call regardless.

Fun fact, the head official during this game was apparently an ex-Alabama quarterback. I would take this with a grain of salt since I'm still unsure if this is completely true, but if so, then there's your answer...

Speaking of that, I saw the refs come over and talk to Heupel after an extra point “injury”. It wouldn’t shock me at all if the refs collectively decided to give teams leeway against us because of that

I was at the game, so it was hard to tell watching it live whether or not it was OPI. I just watched the replay for the first time and it definitely did not look like OPI. The defender fell down, there was no push. The official who was closest to the play didn’t throw a flag. He should be able to overrule an official that was farther away.
