Let's assume you are correct and that it is Crompton and Clawson's fault for this year.I think it's on Clawson and the fact that Crompton couldn't do crap early in the season. Not everything is on Fulmer.

What would be the excuse for the previous 9 seasons of no SEC championship, a losing bowl record, a losing record against LSU, UGA, UF, and Auburn, and his pitiful record against top 10 teams?
I don't think it's all CPF either. How CAN it be? The guys didn't come to UT never having set foot on a football field. The truth of the matter that nobody wants to accept is that we just aren't that good. No amount of coaching / creative playcalling will replace talent. I'm not saying our guys have NO talent. We just don't have the MOST talent. I think the coaches know this and know the team's limitations and try to adjust accordingly. No matter what ther coaches do anymore, it's wrong. If they go for a trick play and it fails - they're stupid and blind. If they DON'T try a trick play or different formation or whatever, they are cowards and too conservative. You win some, you lose some. What's so hard about that to understand?

I stuck by Fulmer for a long time. Certainly through last year. I even was willing to let UCLA slide. Even the turnovers and sloppy play in the Florida game didn;t sway me, but the game mismanagement did. Something is wrong. Something has been wrong for a while.
Certainly some things have gone well - you don't get to Atlnata on pure luck. But there has been an obvious lack of intensity on the part of the Vols for a while as well as an obvious lack of attentiaon to detail. Both, imo, are on the head coach.

It's all in recruiting.
In the 90s:
LSU was down.
Alabama/Auburn were up and down.
Georgia was way down.
South Carolina was horrible.
Here's one - Would Peyton Manning have come to UT if LSU was also as good as they are right now? Again, recruiting.
And so forth. The SEC as a whole wasn't good in the 90s for the most part. It was UT and Florida leading the way. Now? Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, etc. are far better and borderline Top 10 teams. Then you have Spurrier at SC as well.
All of the coaches should be blamed.
Should I dig up the posts from everyone here saying Crompton was better than Stafford before the season started?
Yeah, the fans bought into the hype too.
Not everything is on Fulmer. Some? Yeah. All? No.
Want to know why UT has dropped off? It's recruiting and it's because the Vols dominated in the 90s when Georgia was in the toilet and Alabama/Auburn were up and down. UT could go into GA and AL and get nearly any recruited they wanted.
Tennessee doesn't produce the recruits. Yeah, I know all about the recruiting budget being what it is. Having said that, you have to look at the SEC right now as a whole.
