STICKY THIS.....Dooley will be a GREAT COACH!

I'm with you. This guy is stepping into a job with a Volunteer heart. Apparently nobody wanted this job at this time, and he is doing this job for us because we asked him to do it. He is coming into this job as an underdog, and in my view that is a good thing. It is part of our heritage, and we will rise to fight like the scrappy Tennessee underdog Volunteers who fought and died in the War of 1812. I want him to be a success and you know he wants it, too. We need to support him and get behind him, because he is our coach. Give him a chance. If it doesn't work out, fine, criticize, yell, cuss and scream. But now... let's celebrate our good fortune. We have a young, energetic coach. Go Vols!

Post of the day.

IF....IF...he is indeed the new coach, so be it, I support all VOL football coaches going back to Dickey. I was a fan before ,but a kid, so outside of the legenday Neyland ????

However, anything over 5 wins next season would be extremely unlikely, and I felt the same way prior to LK running away.

GO VOLS

The thing is, if he has any kind of success at UT (which Igone doubt), he'll Kiffinate us a make us s soon as the UGA job becomes vacant (which I could see happening in the next 2-3 years).

IF he has success then that means he did a good job. The era of having a coach for 10 years is probably gone.

IF he does that well, then we will have the resources and the stature to be in a better position to keep him.

This is as far from an ideal situation as possible, IMO. All we can do now is make the best of it.

UT is having a press conference tonight at 9 EST, 8CST, and will be on 104.5thezone.com
Don't know what other outlets it will be on but that is a source if you don't have any other.

I support him 100%. I like the hire considering who we had to choose from. I think he was the best candidate of all the names that I saw. Of course, I really did not see any superstars in those names (assistant coaches with no head coach experience and a bunch of has beens who got fired).

He's coming in with a lot of unanswered questions about how he'll do, but I hope he is totally successful in rebuilding our football program. There's a lot of work left to do. And, I hope he can repair the recent damage that CLK did to our players and prospects.

Godspeed to you, Coach Dooley!

Go Vols!

Sticky This...I'm going to just say a bunch of crap and use exclamation points after every sentence and I'm going to be right. Since this will never get stickied because I made such generalized statements about happiness it's a win win for me!!!!!!!!

Get over yourself! Reading what I have read the last 3 days makes me SICK! Did you guys really think we were getting Stoops, Smith, Patterson, Peterson?!! Your right, I am happy! So when he does well I hope you haters, will eat your crow! Some of the things I have read about this guy and what you couch coaches think is sickening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FYI- I barely ever get on here and start stupid threads or post things like I am in "the KNOW". But after reading what I have I WANT TOO see these "VOL" fans eat their CROW! THREAD SAVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, he is intelligent. He was an attorney in Buckhead before going into coaching. He's young. He's got good genes. He apparently knows the recruiting ropes. So maybe it will work out to the good. But with the mess this program is in, patience has to be the key word.

Haha what a god awful rant. I still don't even know what you're trying to get across. Either way I will continue to call this hire a failure until proven otherwise. THREAD SAVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing we know to be true is that he's got a better W-L record than Lane Kiffin did. I don't know much about him personally, but I think it is safe to assume he's got more integrity than Kiffin.

I look forward to learning more about him. If we don't get at least 7 wins next year and do well in recruiting though, I think it should be Mike Hamilton's last hire.

we prob werent gonna get 7 wins with Kiff, next year will be tough we lose alot and replace basically our whole offensive line. With Kiff and a top 5 class this year i still didnt think we would win 5 or 6 games this coming year. Our schedule and what we have returning will see to that.

I'm pulling for him. This at least has the upside of an unknown. As much as I personally like Cutcliffe, the thought of hiring him made me sick to my stomach. We have to remember, however, that we are very likely to start next season out 2-6. Patience is going to be sorely needed with this guy. Depending on what happens to this recruiting class, he's going to need a minimum of 4-5 years to turn things around.

The Vol Nation needs to band together and support our new coach - good support is what any new coach needs now - If the players and recruits see the VN backing our team - things will return to how they should be. Go VOLs!

not my first choice but then again neither was Kiffin. I'm on board and he has my support and I wish him well.

I say congrats to UT for a great hire, most fans have no idea of how good this guy really is. In a BCS conference, giving him a fair fight for recruits, watch how many battles he wins. I guarantee nobody in SEC will out-coach him.

I would like to see his skills in retaining this recruiting class, and getting those decommits to recommit.

he was not my first choice but after researching him a little, I think he will surround himself with good coaches and we will be ok! I like what Coach Lance Thompson said about Lame Kiffen, " the apple does not fall too far from the tree...but in Lame's case it fell off and rolled way down a hill...Go VOLS!

At first I was like WTF?

Once I started doing some research about him, I think this guy could be good. He has more experience than I thought, he's got southern roots and understands southern recruiting, he's young and seems to run a balanced offense. I think if he keeps Thompson, Kippy, Cregg and Chaney we have a solid base to build on and have a chance. Obviously, we will know more on signing day and after the O&W game this spring.

FWIW, it's gonna be a long haul for the next few years guys. We're losing quite a bit of the talent we had and let's be patient and give him a chance. The schedule over the next few years is going to be tough with a team depleted of scholarship players. GBO!

If this hire is true I'll take a wait and see approach. I'm not against him but I know nothing about him so I'll be patient and wait. I hope he does well and more importantly I hope he conducts himself with respect and dignity.
