Steven Pearl's stats today...

I don't have much of a problem with Pearl being in the rotation, I'd prefer Maymon but it doesn't bother me all that much. Mcbee is the one that doesn't need to be in the rotation. Mcbee is the head scratcher, I can't come up with any reason as to why he's in the rotation.

That lineup where we go Bone, Mcbee, Golden, Pearl, Williams is just terrible. Don't see how we still rotate like that, absolutely ridiculous.

Might as well just quote this.

Failure today was not little Pearl, it was Hopson - the go-to guy who time and again cannot step up.
(Pearl missed one defensive assignment that I saw leading to 2 UConn pts. How many UConn points did Hopson's 4 or 5 turnovers produce? How many times was Hopson beaten defensively, and not just by Walker, but the UConn freshmen wings? Scotty seems like a great kid but he's a soft and slow basketball player.)

Pearl hustles and is physical. He certainly earned his playing time today. Good job!!

Pearl is a smart player. He takes smart shots, if he takes them at all, and is solid defensively. He's a better option than Maymon, which is hysterical but true.

Nevermind that run UConn went on the first time he hit the floor

The problem with Pearl playing is not really about what he does... It's more about what he can't do. He has zero range. He can't really play defense. He gives up more easy shots than he gets back in steals. Every now and then he gets lucky when he throws up prayers. He's a 45 percent free throw shooter (mind you that's better than his god awful 26% last year)... What does he bring to the table other than effort that Maymon/Swiperboy doesn't? Absolutely nothing. There is a reason Maymon was the two-time Wisconsin player of the year and Steven Pearl was the third best player on a .500 West High School team. He does try really hard... but no matter how hard he tries he will always be the worst player on the court.

He averaged 20+ ppg his senior year. West must have had one hell of a team. Did they win state?

4 points
2-2 FG
1 steal

Blind squirrel principle. He is just not very good and normally very depressing to watch. He did play well at times today and had one other game where he wasn't just awful. He really shouldn't be out there under any circumstances imo.

Just for the lulz, I'm really hoping TJ inserts Pearl if we're up on LSU by 30 and Pearl bombs a three.

Yupp. I think maymon, however shaky he may look, would be a better replacement for harris.

Maymon is young - can at times rebound really well, has some upside, and may really help in the future.

Pearl tries hard but brings little else to the table.

If you have a Soph and a Senior and they are equal - you play the Soph. / note: they are not equal imo.

What do you mean? The guy is pulling threes and getting them tossed back in his face because the defender is literally 4 feet from him. Guy's a beast.

they must play some bad basketball in wisconsin because i'm not impressed with maymon at all. i guess it was a man against boys. maybe he'll get better, because right now he has no offensive game at all.

Nice how juicey shows up today; not to respond to the questions asked in other threads. Notice we did just fine in the last few games where SP didn't play hardly at all. Love the post who said "all sec".

On another note, I don't look for Maymon to be here next year. I could be wrong, but I see him hitting the road.
