I noticed he had 12 points in the first game.Not really sure what this means for quality of team they played.His portfolio doesn't appear too bad.

If Steven scored 12 then they were playing a terrible terrible team, but congrats it's great seeing him contribute.

Edit: Bad example. but the second part of my post stands.

I am not saying Steven Pearl is going to be the next Jordan, but being a coaches son should certainly help his development.

the thing is if you read all of the scores, he did pretty well. More than Duke even. From all the features I have seen on Bruce Allmighty, he doesn't seem to give Steven any breaks. In fact he is probably having to work twie as hard to get the same opportunities.

My understanding Back is that this is based on last years eligibility. So if you were not on the roster during NCAA tourney time, you don't get to play. No recruits, No transfers, just the returning team.

Ahem, from Mike Griffith's latest blog:

It’s been fun to see Steven Pearl get some playing time. I read some smart-aleck anonymous post that if Steven is scoring the competition must not be that good.
I’ve got news for you: Those are hustle points, on fast-breaks and put-backs, and Pearl has often put himself in position for those plays with some scrappy effort.

He could hustle til he dropped from exhaustion, he still wouldn't score 12 points against an OVC team if he played for three hours.

Don't get me wrong. Pearl works hard and might develop into a player who can play 5 minutes in a pinch. However, he's so limited athletically, to expect anything else out of him is inviting disappointment.

I don't think anyone is expecting much from him, but to dismiss the level of competition based purely on how many points Steven Pearl was able to put up is absurd.

Stephen may not be a great scorer, but one thing is for sure, He will make the opponents mad on defense and he can grab a board. He was working Duke during the Summer league and held him to 5 points when he was playing him. Hes very scrappy and hes strong enough to go up against the big guys. I dont see him getting 10 points a game, I do however see 3 or 4 boards and a block or 2 a game if he gets to play 5 minutes.

How often do you think Tanner Wild and Stephen Pearl will combine for 18 points this season?
