What I'm able to comprehend from your posts is that you enjoy talking trash about the players and/or coaches all the while enjoying your anonymity.

A retarded 8 year old could find out who I am and where to find me in about 5 minutes of searching. I don't know that I would call that anonymity

I have an idea that may help. Could some open a thread that lists all the deficiencies of everyone associated with the UT Basketball program. Maybe we could get Freak to put a sticky on it so that it can easily be referenced. Include everyone and all aspects of their life past and present - coaches, players, spouses, children, parents, ex-spouses, etc. Spoonfeeding us this information one game at a time is way too inefficient. Also, I think if we would just get this valuable information posted as thoroughly and quickly as possible it could also help Freak with the server stability issues he is having.

Greatly appreciated in advance.

Take it easy man. I'm not trying to "bash" Baby Pearl, merely stating that I think he's a liability on defense. He's slow.
Also, I agree with the statements earlier that he should not be in the backcourt during the press. He can't handle the ball as well as our other forwards.
I understand we are shorthanded, and I'm aware that he is going to see the floor because of that, but I don't think its a secret that he's slow and not an offensive threat.

Sorry I touched your nerve on Baby Pearl.

Pearl is a role player and is playing a certain role which includes giving some of the starters a breather. For his size he is actually pretty quick and moves his feet well on defense. Pearl boxes out extremely well and is more of a physical presence than most currently on the team. Swiperboy and JP because they have never really played underneath previously have yet to grasp boxing out but both have great rebounding potential. Pearl was playing Wayne's role on the press which is primarily to get it back to the point as quickly as possible. He like Wayne did break the cardinal rule of trying to dribble between two defenders and paid the price, although he was clearly grabbed on the play.

Stephen often goes in when someone else screws up or is in foul trouble.

Foul shooting - he needs a system or needs to develop a process for exhaling before shooting his free throws in a game. I watched him in the shootarounds before the Bama game and he didn't miss a free throw. I think he is largely nervous shooting them during the games.

For a walk on he can and does do a commendable job and played well for example against then number 1 Kansas.

For those who will try to counter back - I am not a homer, call em as I see em, 50 - 50 at best at handing out praise to any of our players in any sport.

I can even point out some good components to JP's game if you like. It's not hard to critique and point out the weaknesses is it.

That is my opinion and you are welcome to your own.

I am. He sucks. We have a little depth back, so put his worthless ass back on the bench. Anybody that doesn't like that, well you can unwad your panties and deal.

What color do you wear. I hope they look better than you can post.

Tatum might not be able to play the 4 but he can move it around to where he plays the 3 and have Woolridge or Hall in at the 4

IMO I think Tatum can play the 4 as well. He necessarily doesn't have the typical size of a 4, but CBP has been known to play a smaller lineup from time to time. It seems to me that when the game is close, like it was against Bama, and the other team starts to press, you want players on the floor that can handle the ball/press. Also, you want players on the floor that have at least a chance of making FT, or hitting the rim for that matter. I think Tatum could fill that role, better than Baby Pearl.
I'll give Baby Pearl a gold star for his effort. He tries, but "trying hard" doesn't work much past gym class.

If trying hard was the criteria for playing for a top 10 ranked basketball team then I'd be their starting SG. No matter how hard I try, I'm still 6'1 white and slow. Talent is greater than effort and we need more talented guys on the floor than Stephen Pearl. Effort can make up for lack of talent to a point but in the SEC you better have a ton of talent to begin with. Dane Bradshaw was a small level D1 talent who used his effort to propel him into a starting position. Stephen Pearl is probably on a D2 level talent so his effort is just simply not enough, we a more talented player on the floor. It sucks but that's how it works

Its embarrassing as a program when our boards have to have a thread for such a waste of talent that is Steven Pearl. He sucks, and wouldn't play, but we had 4 guys suspended. End of story.

I really hate him, sorry.

Is it safe to assume that there are a lot of young people on this board? Like high school age?

After reviewing some of the idiocy set forth in this thread, I felt compelled to join the fray - Here is my first post:

Stephen Pearl leaves it all on the floor. That's all that I want from the players - this means using their heads, going as hard as they can until they can't go anymore - then going a bit further even - and understanding their roles on the team.

Stephen, from what I can see, does all of the foregoing well. Some of our players could learn, and perhaps are learning, from his scrappiness.

Every youngster screws up - this will happen if you actually understand basketball and the dynamics of a team. But every youngster should improve with good coaching. I think that you will see improvement in Stephen.

Why all the negativity? He is the coach's son, after all. He doesn't get more minutes than he should, even under these circumstances, and he does a serviceable job when he's out there.

Why not just give the guy a break? He is a vol after all.

This thread needs to die. Pearl came up with some key plays vs. Ole Miss. He had a terrible game against Alabama, but what do you really expect from him? Right now, he is not so much of a liability that I think it will keep us from winning games.

Because I think Steven Pearl is bad and it is embarrassing he gets to play on a college level team because his dad is coach, that means I am a high school aged kid. Please, what is your older aged opinion on Steven Pearl.

And no, I am not in high school, but I feel like it with you calling me out.

Little Pearl is a practice player who has been cast into the deeper waters of actual playing time. While it is obvious that he has little 'real' talent, he does give great effort. Would I want him taking the final shot in the championship game? No, but then I would have preferred for the other four players to not have such a poor lack of character and judgement. He's a part of our team and our team is winning. Give the kid a break.

Pearl got abused today. He played more minutes than he ever should have in the first half and Georgia kept attacking him with ball screens, backcuts, and post ups. Those Pearl lovers on here might have gotten the best glimpse of the reason he shouldn't see the court in the SEC today.
