Spurrier would take the uT job, but only if his son got the USC job when he left.

Yeah, right. And he didn't, Saban would jump at the chance. Of course, you could get Meyer. He would not have the health issues he has if he were here.

Let's be realistic. It's not UT that's the problem, it is the timing and the present situation. Many here have a good grasp of what is going on here. We need a coach, like Cut, that can stablize the situation and make it a place that a top level coach would want to come to. It's not now, but it could be in a couple of years.

It doesn't have to be Cut, but you need somebody that will get things headed in the right direction. Who knows. Maybe Kippy is the guy that can both stablize and take off.

Be realistic folks.

Spurrier does still run his mouth. Do you not ever see him talking to himself on the sidelines everytime the camera pans over to him.........

Spurrier and UT should never come together. What in the world is wrong with you people?

That would be like asking Urban in 10 years.

+1000000. UT is in a bind, not because we are no longer a desirable job, but because this is probably the worst possible timing to be coachless.

I gotta agree that Spurrier needs to stay away. I mean for crying out loud, we all cursed the guy for years when he was at Florida. I just don't know that I could tolerate his stupid smirk on the sidelines of Neyland. Most of us (under 40, sorry) were brought up despising him, now you want us to support him. C'mon, I went to Science Hill and heard the continuous banter around there. Please, God, no!

You Guys are crazy. Spurrier would be Huge!!

He wouldn't do any better here than he's doing at South Carolina. He'd probably do worse. He never really could recruit, and now he doesn't even try.

Try that at Tennessee and see what would happen.

If we're going to hire a retread from the 1990s, I'd just as soon have Fulmer back.

SS was not ever a Vol fan and could not get to Florida fast enough. When he got there all he did was bad mouth TN and the Vols. Would be much better pumping gas in SC or Fla IMO.

I feel like if Spurrier was at the basketball game tonight, the news would have come out a little quicker. The original post here was made at 9:10, after the game. If he had been seen at the game (and a large percentage of people who post on here are students), the news would have spread like wildfire.

I do believe SS's jump to UF was a result of being passed on by UT for a coaching job. He's done a lot a SC considering what he had to work with. I wouldn't have a bit of a problem with that hire.

I think Spurrier would be a fantastic hire. If nothing else, then for the entertainment value. The world would be a much, much more interesting place with Spurrier at UT. Imaging going into the Swamp with him! It would be too damned funny. Plus, I think he could make UT competitive with Florida. He would love to go in there and whip Urban Meyer, I'm sure, and UT could bring the firepower that SC has struggled to get. He is not too old...if Joe Paterno can still win, so can Spurrier. Besides, I feel Spurrier would be better prepared to get the most out of players than Cutcliffe and he would recruit better.

But of course UT hiring Spurrier happens only in Bizarro-world.

Never in a billion, million years would Tennessee hire Spurrier....No. 1--he's still a Fla fan, admitted he watched all their games....and No. 2--he's too old!

I doubt Spurrier would leave S Carolina like Kiffin left us.... Only a week CLOSER to NSD... It feels weird using "class" and Spurrier" in the same sentence, but compared to ALK (A stands for a void surrounded by a sphincter muscle....you do the math.) He's positively a gentleman.....

The Old Ball Coach or Cut? Now that is the question...

I would tak Cut a thousand times over Spurrier. The ole ball coach just don't get it done anymore and has NO ties to UT except being born here and whipping our butts when he was at UF.
