Steve Spurrier, one of Tennessee's greatest sons, became its most hated enemy

I hope nothing but misery and depression for every single UF fan and alumni. That entire state could sink into the ocean and I’d celebrate the new beach front property.
But then we would be deprived of "Florida Man" news and memes. Think of how much poorer we would all be on the humour ledger......6zkouwmk1vp11.jpg

Phillip Fulmer is a great TN son. Al Gore, Davy Crockett (not sure if born here, close enough), Eightball and MJG, those are great TN sons.

Steve Spurrier is a bbg.

I feared Spurrier on the sideline more that any other coach, as he was a true mastermind of reading our offenses and defenses. It was like Spurrier walking into the Copper Cellar saying, I will have one of those TDs, two of those TDs and oh, how about giving me a side order of terrific defensive play calls?

Then he'd skip out on the bill!

I'm with you, Spurrier was/is an arrogant AHOLE thru an thru.

I have told this story many time. We used to charge the field and steal chin straps as kids after Oak Ridge football games, a harmless ritual. The best players were targeted. I collected 20 chin straps over time but only 1 player ran me down and took their strap back. Guess who?

Yep, like that architect that created all those beautiful buildings and structures that drew people from all around the globe just to see in person. But he screwed one goat.

In a state that gave birth to Davy Crockett, Sergeant Alvin York, Admiral David Farragut ("Damn the torpedoes!"), and a whole host of sports stars, movie stars, and musicians from Chet Atkins to Tina Turner, I don't think old Steve rates as a greatest son.

He is a son. Of something. ;)
