Steve Spurrier is retiring

It gets them in the front of the line with USC on the coaching carousel.

Possibly. I don't see them beating out anyone that the Trojans want though and any in demand coach is probably coaching another team right now.

I think the out may be that his last contract extension made him a "special assistant" to the AD and university president whenever he quit.

They may just want to save him from being a punching bag in the media the rest of the season as bad as they have looked as well.

Can't stand the guy but I hope it isn't a health issue.

hopefully USC hires a dud to replace spurrier --- maybe kiffin or muschamp!!

I'd be shocked if any D1 team hired Muschamp. Coach Mac at UF has shown this season so far that the talent is there, but the coaching simply wasn't. Man it would make the USC game easier though.

Lol @ the haters. There's not a one of you,if being honest, that wouldn't have loved to have had him coaching the Vols his entire career.

Hope everything is OK with the OBC health-wise. Seems like a sudden thing to do in the middle of a season, but then again he's 70. I am going to miss seeing that visor always roaming the sidelines, pacing back and forth - yelling at his assistants over the headset - throwing the headset and visor when he gets really pissed. SEC ball wont be the same without him. Gonna miss ya Steve.

Sad day... I really wish he could have come to Neyland one last time. I know our fans would have wished him well. Hate to see a great one go.

Hard to take you seriously with that avatar, ha. Mustard'n biscuits.

OOC, what do you think about a CSS comparison to john mcenroe?

If that's all you got from Karl Childers, you miss the whole point of the movie. I do not know OOC.

And being taken seriously is pretty far down my priority list at this point in time.

Just realized something...not sure if posted yet.

Both USC are hunting for coaches. Both departing coaches are named Steve and both carry the initials SS.:boobies::bammer:

Lots of things could have been different. If we ran a different offense maybe he plays at TN. Then maybe he comes back and coaches at his almater in Knoxville. But he didn't. The die were cast and the paths didn't cross. And I cannot stand the SOB.

As I said earlier I absolutely respect his ability and achievements. But I cannot stand the man.

In contrast to our upcoming game I also despise all things Bama. But I have nothing but respect and admiration for Paul "Bear" Bryant.

Steve Spurrier can pound sand

Anyone think USC will take a look at Justin Fuentes and Spurrier's replacement?

If they don't they are fools but for our sake I don't want that guy in the East. He is a solid coach and has turned that dumpster fire in Memphis around.
Fuentes will get a big dollar gig soon, when the hiring/firings start my guess would be that his phone will be blowing up.
