Tennessee. I wish the national media & some other people would get that fact down pat. Steve was born and lived the 1st 8 years of his life in the lousy state of Florida. His father, a preacher, moved his family to Johnson City Tennessee after Steve turned 8 and there is where he grew up.
Could somebody contact the powers that be and inquire why the University of Tennessee couldn't see or be interested in the fact that Spurrier was a future Hypesman Award winner and lived in the back yard of the school......as a true native and resident of Johnson City, I'm fine with considering Spurrier one of our own. I didn't go to Science Hill, but anyone that has ever walked by their trophy cases can easily see that UT seriously screwed up by not offering Spurrier out of HS. He owns records in football, baseball and golf. And some of those are not only school records, but state records as well. He's also plastered all over Johnson City Country Club.
