He called in as a fan. Didn't dawn on Paul for about a minute who he was talking to. Then the light bulb came on and Paul was absolutely thrilled. Great to hear from the VFL!!!

GBO!!!

Yes, that call made Finebaum's day. He was pretty impressed and made sure to get Steve's number. Maybe he'll do a spot on the show sometime. That would be pretty cool.

Heard him today. That was really cool. Sounded like a normal dude. Loved his story about people not being able to tell the difference between horses and mules.

Loved the look on his face when he realized who he was talking to. Went from TV host to fan.. First time I've seen him just be real

Well, Finebaum enrolled at U.T. around 1974, and Kiner left U.T. around 1970, so I'm sure he is a fan. I am also a fan of Kiner and Reynolds, and saw them play many games when I was a student.

Kiner had a nose for the football. He took that trait to the pro's as well. He and Jack were one of the best combos ever. If we had 2 lb's like them, we could have a NC close at hand. We lost 4 games in the years 68-72.

PF said Coach Bear Bryant was quoted as saying Kiner was the greatest LB he had ever seen play the game.

A quarterback in high school, he turned out to be one of the best linebackers ever to play at Tennessee. I think Andy Spiva was the best linebacker to have ever played for the VOLs.

Steve is a fantastic person as well as a hall of famer. I played college ball with his little brother Kelly, and have met Steve so many times. Great individual, very humble and nothing but class in my book!

Was there in '69, Steve and Jack were men who played with a purpose. Love watching real men play the game!
