What are the chances we'll see Stephens starting and or taking snaps against Northern Illinois? It wouldn't hurt to try...

He'll take snaps if Crompton plays bad, but he won't start, no chance. Fulmer doesn't have the balls

From what I've read Stephens has a stronger arm then Crompton but is slower (footspeed). He can't possibly get as rattled in a game as Crompton does though.

Hell I'll suit up and play if CPF will let me lol...I can promise you I won't throw it in the ground at the recievers feet...I'd be more apt to throw an INT before that :p

Well Clawson and Fulmer did discuss yanking Crompton during the 3rd quarter, so there's a greater chance of him starting vs. NIU than most of you are implying.

They left him in because he had been receiving all the in-game coaching, and they felt that would make him the best QB to finish the game. Obviously he didn't improve at all during the 3rd or 4th quarters, so I'd say there is a 50/50 chance that Stephens starts the NIU game. It would be a good chance for him to get his feet wet.

I like that idea. Remember the last time we played a two qb system (Ainge & Schaffer), we beat the gators! haha. :)

ainge and schaffer worked because each brought a new dimension to the game. one was a pocket passer while the other was mobile. it's usally not a good idea to keep rotating qbs with similar playing style (see 2005)

my point is, we need to find "the guy" and find him quick.

I agree is arm strength is stronger.Concentration would be the defining factor.Cromptons field of view is,seems to be limited.Whether or not that is attributable to concentration is guess work.

Bottom line, Cut recruited Stephens. I bet if Cut were still here (not that i want that) Stephens would have been our QB after the UF game.

I agree.I wonder if their as been coaches who are,and have been actively pressing for stephens to be the quarterback to the degree of the split of opinion that we saw or were made aware of after randy sanders left.
