Anybody know about this guy? I guy called in on the radio toady and going crazy over this kicker/punter from McMinn County. He said nobody's been talking about him and he dont know why. Said he kicks all the way through the end zone every time and makes 47 48 yarders in his sleep with no effort. Just wondering. I know it's a kicker but hey, everybody needs a good one.

i live in the same town as he, but i don't go to the same school. He is ok i guess, not extra-ordinary. He is just a good soccer player in my opinion.

you hear this every season about high school kickers and usually more than one, but what most fail to realize is high school kick offs are shorter than college

now i am not saying he isnt good but if he was THAT good we would have heard more

Willhoit was getting talk when he was a Freshman if that tells you anything. I remember seeing him kick it over 50 i think when he was a Sophmore

Here is the deal on Stansell.....he is the real deal!

He just won the National Kicking Combine Series in Houston,TX for the kickoff portion. All kickoffs were from the 30 yd. line (where the colleges kick from) and he averaged 73 yds. per kick.
He finished 2nd in the field goal portion making kicks from the 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 & 52 the missed one from the 42.
The kicking combine series brings kickers together from all over the country. For Stansell it began in Nashville where he advanced and then went to the Atlanta regional kick off were he then advanced to the finals in Houston @ Rice University.
He has been kicking off of the ground on his field goals since his 9th grade year so there will be no learning curve when he transitions to the college level were kicking tees are not used for field goals.
He is also an "Old Spice" national finalist....

Senior,
From what I understand from family members there has not been much interest shown from the Vols for whatever reason.
He was invited to "Junior Day" last spring for the Orange / White game and made an unofficial visit during the Wyoming game but other than that....NOTHING!
I dont believe they have even asked him to try to walk on which is a real shame seeing that the kid would love to play for the Vols and only lives 45 miles from Knoxville.

I might be his daddy but what does that matter....

The fact of the matter is the kid is a legt D-1 kicker but if you dont believe me just ask his kicking coach @ Premiere Kicking in Rome,GA who has kids kicking everywhere from Georgia Tech to Appy State.
On the UK deal the "Big Blue" has shown some interest but they signed a kicker last year and have another who is only a soph. so that doesnt look like it will be an option.
Maybe Kiffin will atleast take a look at Stansell or whoever recruits the state of Tennessee and show some interest.

I would guess FootballDad would be his daddy......I have seen him kick and yes he is impressive especially since he couldn't bust a window pane his frosh season. Maybe his HS coaches should have promoted the kid a bit harder his jr season and the Westen Kentucks of the world wouldn't be his only oppritunities.

how come no one else has offered?

Traditionally McMinn County doesn't do jack to promote their atheletes. They have had some legit D-1 guys who who flew under the radar and wound up at Tech, Martin etc. Jajaun Smith was a walk on from there!

Hope this kid gets a chance...Maybe The Emendorfers, Mayfields or Goodfriends can help him get his foot in the door.

That still doesnt explain why UT would not show a bit more interest in a kid who obviously has the skills to play at the SEC level and more importantly wants to play for the VOLS.
Apparently Stansell is more than just a decent athelete....you dont become All-State in two sports by not having some ability.
Who knows maybe the Big Orange will come calling soon? Even if it just an invitation to walk on and try to earn a schlorship....

I agree wholeheartedly with your post, except for one thing. Jajuan was not that impressive when he was in High School. He showed flashes, but nothing to the point that you thought he had a chance to even walk-on at UT. He proved a lot of people wrong, and I think he relished in that role.

But you are right. I am fairly certain major college coaches were calling Mullinax, while he was still the coach, about Andy Bailey and he wouldn't return their calls. MCHS does not do a good job of promoting their athletes.

Has the young man or his family contacted the football staff? Considering that his visit was during the Wyoming game, I doubt anybody on CLK staff knows anything about him. Does the UT staff know he would be satisfied being a walk-on, with a chance for a scholarship? I mean no disrespect to the him, but Kiffin is probably not focusing on a kicker right now. Tennessee has many holes to fill and little time to do it. The Vols have a few placekickers and punters on the roster right now. It could be a numbers game and Tennessee does not have room for him this year. I wish him the best, wherever he ends up.

There have been a few e-mails sent....apparently some of the e-mails that were sent the coach is no longer on the staff. From what I have been told today a "major donor" has gotten wind of this and has alerted the university that someone better call this kid.
Who knows??

Well Chris as I stated before why don't you call Doc Emendorfer, Scotty Mayfield, Bobby Goodfriend etc.. If nothing else have Mike Fraizer get a hold of Roger! Instead of waiting to pimp him on a message board at the 11th hour!

be patient...I'm having fun with this!

Great....well since you have so much free time why dont you put in a plug for Stephen with the powers that be?
On the comment about "pimping at the 11th hour" we have been pushing Stephens cause since this time last year. We have gotten Carter & Bryan involved but apparently they have lost there punch when coach Fulmer left the program. So your comment doesnt hold water.....
