Stephanie Mavunga

Chemistry is pretty darn important. Not to say that talent isn't important either, but talent alone rarely takes you far.

Ten Years Later, Revisiting Team USA's Flop in the 2004 Olympics | Triangle Offense

"The obvious problem is that an (almost) All-Star team pieced together at the 25th hour like some sort of jigsaw puzzle has no shot of defeating teams who play together annually and already have cohesion. The international teams live for that ****. “You can’t just walk up and put a team together in two weeks and beat a team that’s been playing together for years,” Sam Mitchell told USA Today."

There is always a challenge building chemistry on national/olympic/world cup teams that aren't together very long. However, that shouldn't be a problem on college teams that play together for months. Sometimes, it is, owing to players with personality/style issues and/or weak coaching--but one of the basic jobs of a coach is to create chemistry. That's what they are paid to do.

It is what it is. As fans it is out of our control on where Muvunga lands anyways. SC will experience the same recruiting tactics we receive when it comes to these next few high school classes. "Why go there, they are stacked at your position, you will be playing behind player so and so for so and so many years." So if Dawn is able to reel in elite high school recruits along with all these transfers, I salute her. You better believe it, that other coaches will be heavy in these recruits ears. We have learned first hand that elite recruits do not want to come sit and watch, but they want to play early. Its a reason Dangerfield and Carter went elsewhere. I also think it will be tough for us to land Destiny Slocum, but I'm hoping our staff can still convince her to come. I understand that SC fans are excited in the direction their women's program is headed, but some of y'all are getting a tad bit arrogant. I can understand though, SC was the doormat of the SEC for so many seasons.[/QUOTE]

Has nothing to do with anything. Your statement was incorrect and I pointed it out. Nothing more nothing less.

How? I am counting 15 and 1 walkon.

1. Cuevas
2. T. Davis
3. Cliney
4. Wilson
5. Coates
6. Mitchell
7. Imobvioh
8. Dozier
9. Sessions
10. Roy
11. White
12. Colley
13. Gray
14. K. Davis
15. Duckett

Walkon
16. Farmer

Unless someone leaves the team, or Mavunga is going to sit out 2 years, or she is going to pay for her "sit-out" year of college out of her own pocket, I don't see how that is going to work.

My comment about being incorrect was not directed towards you, it was the above poster.

Please tell me how my post was wrong. Last time I checked, 15 scholarship players were the limit. Some SC fans have become arrogant. You prove my point by bringing up a post that was posted weeks ago. What point are you trying to prove? A few years ago we didn't even know SC WBB fans existed. Now that SC had one great season, some of their fans want to go to every message board possible and toot their horn. SC had an unbelievable run least season and I applaud them for that, but can some of there fans adopt the act like you been there notion. We are all big WCBB fans, believe me we know what SC accomplished last season we don't need to be reminded by SC fans on a Tennessee board.

I never heard or read she was blocked, unlike Gray.

I'm just surprised she is visiting because of other circumstances.

The "circumstances" must have been resolved then. Because I doubt she would travel to Tennessee unless there were mutual interest.

I know you can't elaborate, but were they that serious where it would dismantle team chemistry?

Yes, possibly.

It would take a lot to rectify things, but if the effort was put in, that's great for all parties involved and Tennessee could definitely use her.

I still think she goes to OSU.

I hope all is well with all parties involved. Our team has great team chemistry and we need no distractions in the way as we try to get over this Elite 8 hump and on to the Final Four. I'm guessing things have been resolved, but its strange for her to visit while Holly, Diamond and Mercedes are with USA Basketball. I hope things are OK.

How can you say that "our team has great chemistry" when this team hasn't played a game yet? Nobody knows what the chemistry will be. We hope it will be good--but DeShields hasn't played with this group yet; Russell hasn't played in a year; we've got two new players coming in. This team's chemistry will emerge as the season unfolds, not before.

I was referring to last season's team and off the court issues/locker room. I understand that this team has to play together to mesh on the court.

That is odd that she would visit while they were away....if I recall she's closer to those two.

Just in time to register for second summer session before going off to Colorado Springs for USA basketball?

Omg i hope you're right!
Fingers still crossed. We really need Steph. Mavunga, Graves, Russell, Jones and Nared would be a nice post rotation, plus Moore. C'mon to Rocky Top Steph!

Graves and Mavunga will never play together.

Looks like she had a great time. Hopefully 'great time' can get her to have an 'amazing time' for 2 years in Knoxville!
There is a light at the end of the tunnel Stephanie and it's bright orange!!!!!
