I see us beating Indiana State, Southern Miss., U Mass, Vandy, Kentucky, Missouri, Georgia Tech, & South Carolina but losing to UGA, Florida, LSU & Alabama Another 8 = 4 season and a decent bowl game victory to make us 9 -4 for the season in 2017.

As is the East wasn't enough, now Florida gets to lose two in a row and still back into the Sugar Bowl over us.
He's obviously prolific and a genius at it.
Also, I hate to break this one to the OP, but that talented roster isn't going to be so talented very, very soon. He isn't bringing them in like he used to and his shtick is wearing thin on the recruiting trail.

What makes you think we beat USCe next year? Nothing, I've seen this year, especially our performance against them, gives me any confidence, that the 2017 Vols roster coached by CBJ beats them.
We will see how butch does without the support of the fans boosters and media. No one has any clue how butch will do then. It's likely he gives up like Dooley did. Maybe ut will do what ut always does, wait for a bad situation to get worse before making a change. I understand money will be an issue but it's nothing compared to how low attendance and ticket sales will be next year. Don't compare Mark Richt to butch. Richt is an 9-10 win coach, butch is a7-8 win coach. Butch is half the coachThis ending to our season answered the questions I was needing answers too.
Butch is our Mark Richt and that is okay.
We need a Mark Richt right now. We need normalcy and consistency.
Butch will keep a high level of talent in the cupboard for the next coach.
Butch will never be elite because he can't adapt to in game situations.
If his game plan doesn't work from the start then he is in trouble.
His ego won't allow for progression. Even when injuries dictate change, he can't change. The plan works in his mind and the plan is to stay the course.
He is elite at marketing and motivation, but adaptation and change in the face of adversity aren't in his abilities.
He is stubborn to a fault.
Injuries are an issue, but they are an issue for all football teams. We aren't the only team to struggle with major injuries. The data is out there if people are motivated enough to look.
I hate Lane Kiffin, but I recognized quickly that an elite coach can take his pieces and win due to maximizing the strength of his players. Jonathan Crompton wasn't an SEC level QB but Lane made him successful by recognizing his weaknesses and maximizing his strengths.
He has done the same thing with Jalen Hurts this year. He maximized his strengths and kept him away from his weaknesses.
The saying for general neyland was that he could take his and beat yours or take yours and beat his.
Leadership matters and that is the main reason Saban is the best in today's game.
His coaching tree doesn't always equal immediate success due to the fact that his subordinates aren't him.
Butch is going to win 8 to 9 regular season games per year. He's going to make the players that last good men that matter in society. He will not embarrass the program and it's great name.
But, he will never be elite or take us to the top of college football. He does not have the ability to adapt in the face of adversity.
Steve Spurrier is an excellent example of an elite leader. He had zero fear and the drive that few ever possess.
Don't give up on Butch. Don't get down on this team.
Recognize their weaknesses, but praise their strengths.
It's okay to expect results, but don't hurt the program during the process.
Buy your tickets, go to games, purchase apparel, and complain during bad performances. But don't expect Butch to be Saban because no one else in the college football world can live up to those expectations. There are only a small amount of coaches that are close to the level of Saban.
Expect better than what we witnessed today, but don't hurt your program due to false expectations and wearing your heart on your sleeve.
Did OP really say Butch "won't embaress us"?
He might not 'scandalize' us, but he has already more than embaressed us.
UT faithfull might tolerate getting snickered at here and there, and winning forgives allot, but if you're spin makes us the butt of jokes to national media you better win.
We have been embaressed on the field and in the press by Butch Jones.
We're very calm and rationale. This former sunshine pumper realizes he probably wont be fired going into 2017. 10-2 SEC East next year or bust.
The fans expecting more from an underachieving team does not hurt the program. Losing games to the likes of Vandy and South Carolina on the other hand does hurt the program, but what hurts the program even worse is people like you that will always make excuses for lack of success and never except the warning signs that are right in front of your face.
THis off season, we will lose some key guys to the NFL or to graduation. Our schedule next season included LSU, Ga. Tech, Alabama, UGA & Florida. Defense better improve. Q.B. better be ready to play on day number 1. We better get better assistant coaches during the off season. Players better be coached to be developed and us see measurable improvement in them or bUTch is in trouble.
