Steele,Tucker,or Pruitt

I'm relieved it's not schiano. Literally everyone else is an upgrade. Brohm and leach got my excitement level up a bit. I could still be optimistic about anyone else too. I just want the 85 scholarship orphans to have some closure now. Can't grade a hire until this time next year anyway

Steele is the worst choice of any assistant that has been mentioned in this latest search.

He is to assistants what Dave Doeren was to head coaches. The only difference that I see with this coaching search and the "search" Currie conducted after the Schiano strong arm hire fell apart is that a coach is not publicly turning UT down on a daily basis.

Now how much of that was actually true or not remains to be seen. Kevin Steele, imho, would be a worse hire than Dooley or Jones.

If Fulmer doesn't hire a HC and get out of the way he very well could be known as the man who killed UT football.

I have always heard how great Pruitt is as a coach. I hope that it is just not a case that he worked at great programs. Bama, Florida State etc.

Know virtually nothing about Coach Tucker.

But if it is Steele then why not Coach Venables. Clemson went from being a contender for the ACC championship having won 1 with to Steele there to winning 3 straight with Coach V there. 3 straight playoff trips, well everybody knows the story.

I was convinced we were getting Gruden - Can someone explain how we went from Gruden to Steele ? Got to believe there are some coaches between point A & B - Just because we don't get a Homerun we should not settle for a Strike Out .

Hard to understand. Currie said money wasn't an issue, WHY NOT BROHM, FSU gets Taggert, A&M Jimbo and Frost to Nebraska, all seem better than what we are looking at. UT surely has as much $$$ as A&M and Auburn. Why couldn't we get a Home Run hire? I am confused

Serious question. The reports that Kevin Steele is being considered for HC at UT is beyond alarming. His record as a head coach might be the worst of any head coach in the last 20 years. One conference win in 3 years. What the hell is Fulmer smoking??? A completely unproven (as far as HC) coordinator would be a far better hire than a coach with a record that makes Dooley look like Robert Neyland.

Watson Brown has the worst record in the history of college football. He's a better fit than Leach though.

So if Steele is hired, then am I correct to assume you will root for Vandy and/or Memphis going forward? One request....please list your coaching resume so we can all see your qualifications for picking the next UT HC. :loco:

Jeremy Pruitt.

Won 4 National Championships, Nick Saban disciple, experience, solid resume.

How much of that success is related to Nick Saban and the highly recruited players vs. the success being related to Pruitt’s coaching?

Pruitt brings toughness, intensity, and is one of the best recruiters in the nation. It’s been reported he’s not the brightest guy, so he’s probably willing to leave the offense alone in the hands of someone capable (maybe Tee?) Would be much much better than Steele.

Tee and Pruitt would be one of the best recruiting duos in the nation, and each is widely considered one of the best at their coordinator spots.

SO you support Kevin Steele as UT's next coach. A person has an opinion that Steele would be a disaster. Based on his previous disaster of a time as a head coach, his age, the 70 plus points that West Virginia scored on his Clemson defense in the Orange Bowl his last game on the job as their coordinator, and the subsequent emergence of the Clemson program once Brent Venables became their defensive coordinator.........then, I too, do not want him as our coach.

As to whether I root for Vandy or Memphis, that would be a no. Voicing an opinion in that a coaching hire would be a poor one doesn't require any qualifications. IF so there would very little posting going on any forums regarding coaching searches, etc.

Is there a quantifier on whom or whom is or is not the best coordinators in the country?

While Tee and Pruitt are considered good recruiters, I was not aware that they were any metrics showing that they had measured out as great coordinators.

I would think that Kiffin and Venables would both rate highly in "coordinator" metrics based on their time being in-place as their respective schools were in the play-offs over the past several seasons.

Nothing really objective, but Pruitt’s defenses has been ranked in the top 10 for FSU, Georgia, and Alabama. Saban even said, as soon as Kirby was gone he knew exactly where he was going to fill the spot. Pruitt’s had issues getting along with coaches, but his ability at DC is unquestioned.

Tee is a bit more iffy. Top 10 offense this year, and responsible for the recruitment/development of arguably the best QB prospect in the nation. It’s a good start for him.

I’ll hope for the best and expect the worst. Steele is beyond terrible. Do everyone a favor and keep your head up your rear where it belongs. How you extrapolated your response from my post is unfathomable.
