Steele the next DC?

Second half turns out with Clemson shutting down WVU and wins what will people say? I mean Clemson did hang 35 in the third quarter against UNC just like WVU just did. I can't wait to see what people will say about Steele if Clemson comes back. I knew it was possible, but I've never seen such a divided fan base.

Reminds me of Fulmer's firing Presser: "The Tennessee family is united in its goals, but divided on the right path to get there."

I mean we have this mentality over every small thing pertaining to football.

Think back to shannon at miami. Miami was never elite on defense while he was there. Cant blame it on the dc there or the dc would have been gone. The entire time he was there how long were they ever in the top 25 nationally. I just think there has to be better options for ut out there. Why is it that it seems to be that these 2 are the only ones on the radar

My new favorite thing in the rushing game is reading the backside DT or LB on inside zone and jet sweep. Clemson reads the MLB on Jet sweep a lot. If he runs over the top to pursue the sweep, the qb pulls it and gets up the middle. If he stays in "a" gap, you give to the jet. One of my favorite concepts I've seen in a long time.

True .. Holgersons advance on leach's air raid is the incorporation of run plays from the inverted wishbone .. He runs about 30 percent more than leach .. But they score about the same .. Guy from smart football wrote something on it .. It's also on shakin the south land .. Clemson site .. He answered bunch questions about it on their board

Maybe he could bring Blanks and Watkins with him? Other than that, he's got to make a stop or two in the second half. This is just horrendous... not that the O has helped with the turnovers.

WV scored on LSU. Plus Clemson's Offense not helping out their D. Dont panic. Things sometimes arent what they seem

it is in contract negotiations right now.

I know this because I am friends with one of the lawyers of a firm involved as the represent me also in various states.

Unless some huge issue arises between during the drafting then it's over.

As in giving up 49 points in the 1st half?

Look at my post history. I've been a big Dooley supporter. I don't think he will but if he hires steele i'm gettin my sky is fallin on.

Steele has had almost a month to prepare for this. Tennessee doesn't need this guy. Clemson fans would love for someone else to run their defense. Please Dooley and Hart use some common sense!!!!!

They look ill prepared for sure.

Im not sure this makes him a dog, but it knocks the shine off a little.

...because that is what vn wants.

just cant see it. Neither of these to imo would be an elite dc. Maybe decent but dang we have so much talent here and coming in. These guys need to be taught. Having ties in tn is nice. Having ties in miami is nice. But shannon didnt even recruit florida that well.

I don't think I've seen a defense as clueless in a major bowl game in a long time.

Steele will fit right in.

Welcome back to Big Orange Country, Kevin.

Miami had some pretty awesome defensive players when he was their DC...Ed Reed, Jonathan Vilma to name a few. He's gonna bring in some big time talent, he's got some seeds planted in FL and that'll help us a lot. I never understood the Steele support though. His D is getting lit up tonight.

Chaney is highly qualified. The Purdue offenses he ran were unreal. Sumlin's offense is a bit different, I think he is more run n shoot than anything. But yeah, this is disturbing to watch.

+1,000,000,000!!!

Last point whatever the WVU offense is compared to Sumlins 500 yards of offense ( yes i know he wasnt calling plays or coaching but it was his baby that they were playing with) against a Penn State defense would probably put up 1,000 on Steele before the night would be over!

Through 2001-2006, wasn't Shannon's D in the top 10 every year except one? That's pretty elite..and the one year they weren't they were in the mid 20s
