Steele may not happen. Not good if true.

Damn ridiculous waste of money by the Tennessee Athletic Department:rolleyes:
Yes, it was. It's a sign that the administration wasn't on the same page with how to proceed following the termination of Pruitt. It appears as though the initial plan was for Fulmer to remain AD, name Steele as a one year interim, and gauge how well Steele performed.. and then conduct a more thorough search if Steele wasn't working out. My guess is that this was what Randy Boyd wanted to do, but then Plowman changed course.

I have been pretty positive about this hire. But if this is true then it will change things for me significantly. Steele is a very good and well respected DC who can recruit and develop. He has great ties to the South. This could hurt big time.

So Tenn will hand Steele $900,000 ($450,000 x 2) for a month on campus. I’ll take that gig, lol.

The problem with this offense is you put major pressure on the defense because they are on the field to much. If it’s not Steele he better get someone with SEC defensive experience or it’s going to be a long year.

and Steele is experienced playing defense along side this offensive pace. Playing a fast offense is a neat trick , until you go three and out for two quarters and your defense absorbs 12 minutes of beatings and give up points on every drive. Then your offense is one dimensional and your defense is exhausted. There are not alot of SEC teams you are just going to outscore ...it comes back to defense.

Were going to be UCF Volunteers. All flash and points with a defense that is gassed by half.
We went from Louisiana Tech Vols, to Cincinnati Vols , to now UCF Vols.

Agree. I don’t know why Heupel wouldn’t just keep Steele and let him run the defense.

Why would Huepel want to let Steele go? Unless Steele is disappointed with the hire and doesn't want to work for him. Huepel will have to just give the keys on Defense to someone anyways...Steele will get full reign.
