I don’t ever wanna hear about not paying the players. Hell Oklahoma ought to pay Steel, he helped them more than he helped UT. This is ridiculous.

I am dumbfounded by the stupidity of throwing away 900k on nothing. Its offensive.

How would you feel if you donated your season ticket money to the AD this past season? Talk about hustled. My tickets are about $1,800 so it’s nothing I’d jump off a building over but I’d still feel lied to & screwed over seeing them just piss away money like this.

I’m with you, this is nuts.

Eh - personally I think Heupel should've kept Steele as the DC or a position coach at the least. Steele's experience in the SEC and recruiting the Southeast outside of Florida would have been beneficial IMO. Oh well, no one in the AD cares what I think.

Most coaches don’t keep legacy hires.

You could feel this one coming. I mean Heupel shouldn't have to be committed to Steele eventhough I would've loved for Steele to have stayed.

Surely Fulmer is not the only one responsible for the decision to bring Steele on though it wouldn't surprise me.

Try to get Zack Arnett from Miss St ...offer Steele LB coach position for 450,000 a year ... he accepts then great addition .. if he bolts you save 900,000 and u can use that for Arnett buyout if he has one ...

Steele worked to get Malzhan fired at Auburn. I can see why Heupel wants no part of him even for a year or two. I’m not sure White wants any former Pruitt coaches, even if for a couple weeks, involved. I’m sure he wants very few Fulmer loyalists, which Steele would be, in the AD. Hell, I don’t want any Fulmer loyalists in the AD.

They’re surgically removing the cancer. It’s gonna hurt for awhile.
I'd say the Steele-Fulmer connection has something to do with it.

Sounds like a plan to me... if he does not like the offer he can walk away without our money. Don't know if he gets it back from AU or not. Just need to play this smart.

Why would any new head coach want to keep a DC that was trying to Fulmer his head coach at Auburn and was privately angling for the head coaching job while he was working for that head coach. Also, why would a new AD allow the new HC to keep a guy that is known to be loyal to the former AD. Knowing that Pruitt was toast and Fulmer was getting retired, whomever signed on to bringing Steele in should be shown the door as well. Nobody allows staff members to retain hiring privileges on their way out the door.

I dont get why let him go...what benefit is that? If you have to pay him his full contract guatenteed, then try and see if he can work out first before letting him go. Its not like there are super high expectations this year. If Huepel is so great of an Offensive mind, then put Steele in charge of the defense and use him as a scapegoat in one or two years if it doesn't work out..

Geeze! We are a laughing stock....I swear if Huepel goes out and signs someone from UCF as DC, the fans should revolt
