This just can't be right. I'd love to see that contract. Off-field assistant, LB coach, surely he can do something.

Doubt Steele will remain w staff though we need an elite D coordinator. Part of me thinks we need to cut ties from all the Fulmerites as he was a train wreck with giving Pruitt and himself extensions while giving Steele a contract. I guess he didn’t know he was going to be asked to leave UT and Steele would be his man, or at least defensive coach.
CJH should be able to hire anyone he wants so do whatever it takes and start fresh and hope fir the best. I just just wasting $$$ though. Lol

Fulmer hired a mercenary that stabbed his last coach in the back. I can’t blame Heupel and White from passing. The culture has been piss poor for years.

Yeah, it’s only money.

Always reach for the "shut up those I dont like" button, doncha?

If there's anything factually incorrect about the story, please enlighten us.
Go ahead and copy and paste it here so I don’t contribute to his traffic. I’ll be happy to tear it apart if he won’t profit.

Auburn fan posted below on this thread: LOL Tennessee Just Saved Auburn 900K

Following the hire of head coach Josh Heupel, a source has indicated to SDS that Steele will not be retained by the new Tennessee coach.

Steele’s contract at Tennessee calls for him to make $550,000 in base pay and $350,000 in supplemental pay (which comes via the school’s broadcast, endorsement, and/or consultation contracts as worded by the coach’s contract).

According to his contract with Tennessee, if Steele is let go without cause — which would be the case here unless he managed to commit some recruiting violations in the two weeks he’s been on campus — Tennessee would owe him $900,000 in monthly installments for the next two years.

Keep in mind, Steele was set to make $5 million from Auburn after the coach was dismissed following the hire of Bryan Harsin.

Unfortunately for Steele, he will not be adding Tennessee’s $900,000 to the $5 million Auburn owes him. Instead, Auburn now owes Steele $4.1 million with Tennessee footing the other $900,000.

This is all you need to know about how poorly Tennessee mismanages its athletic department.

Thank you Kevin now go get a job with Saban and save us some more cash.

He can have our money...just don't take any players. Semi serious note...when it comes to NCAA sanctions on scholarships, in reality, the natural flow of the transfer portal seems to be doing that to us pretty well, so, I'll be curious how this all comes out. Maybe a cap on head count and post season bans, which isn't a given at this point either. I get fired up when coaches cheat and can leave and go coach in the NFL with no harm done, and the school is left holding the leaky bag of s***.

I think most in this thread are completely missing what happened here...

Fulmer knew he was about to be forced to fire Pruitt. He never expected to be pushed out along with him. Steele was Pruitt’s replacement, and in his mind, he would’ve continued to be the AD.

You might argue that wasn’t the best route to go for Fulmer or UT, and I’d probably agree with you, but it wasn’t completely illogical from Fulmer’s standpoint.

This is much more on Plowman and Boyd than Fulmer.
