Just wanted to point out some stats from the first 2 games of the season. We have played 2 decent teams. Let these next few stats sink in a little:

Comp ATT Yrds % TD INT RATG
Dobbs: 26 48 283 54.2 5.90 4 2 122.9

Only 26 completions? WTF? So an average of 13 per game. This is not going to win us championships. When i saw this i really couldn't believe it, or i guess didn't want to!!

Hurd has 50 rushing attempts. The next RB is AK and he has 9. 9? Really? I know Hurd is a beast but come on swim coach give AK the rock. He is a stud use him, good grief.

AK is the leading receiver on the team with 6 catches. Out of the backfield is our leading receiver?? Come on swim coach, WR's aren't gonna come here if we don't throw them the ball!!

I know we are 2-0 and I am as happy as anyone that we are, but I am sick and tired of just being happy I want freaking championships and these stats that I just brought to you isn't going to win us squat!

If this continues there needs to be some major shake up on the O side of the ball within our "best staff in America". Plain and simple we will not win at a high level!

Throw App state out. That was us playing too cutesy conservative. We had some nice passes against VT and even tried to get AK involved in return game to increase his touches. On some of AK's obvious runs he got blown up. If you wanna be worried it starts and ends with oline play and Dobbs decision making tied with it.

What evidence do you have that shows us playing "cutesy conservative" against App State? It's not like offensive production was greatly increased in the VT game.

Are you kidding? I mean against App State we put up a massive 319 yards. Then we followed that up with an earth shattering 330 yards against VT.

Where does that QB rating come from? I doubt that an NLF QB with a 54 percent completion percentage--which is not that good, by the way--and 4/2 TD/Int ratio would have a 123 QB rating. No way.

Pretty sure the NFL QB rating system is different than college.

Dobbs looks ready to open up the passing game a bit. Maybe we're waiting for someone to force us to throw.

Throw App state out.

Throw it out ?? That was THE biggest game of Tenn's Week 1 (it was the ONLY game).

How about -- take down/remove the "speed" chart from the wall, and hang up the App State stats in its place, and determine to do better this week, because we face a very, very determined CJM in two weeks who's gonna use every trick in his gator-skinned book to keep their streak alive.

Choose the right OL group.... and things get better. IMO, UT's O started clicking when they moved Wiesman to C, Thomas to RT, Kendrick to LT, J Jones to RG, and pulled Richmond out. They all of a sudden seemed to look "in sync".

OL is the slow down, Hurd can make up for the lack of production. Last thing they need to pull out the starters..they will loose their confidence, so be patient and let the coaches work on the fits by using the film...time will tell when Hall comes back.

OP you forgot this stat:

Points scored - 65

Points allowed - 37

That's the most important one. IDGAF if we win by 1 point or 100, a win is a win is a win.

Are we 2-0 or 0-2? Are moving the chains or not? The aim is to get more points than your opponent, be it by air or ground. We've done that. It may not be suitable to all fans, but we're winning and UNDEFEATED. Dobbs could go 42/53 for 378 yds and 4 TD's and some people would complain that Hurd didn't get enough touches and now he won't get the all time rushing record..........Can't please everyone, and this staff isn't trying to either. Get on board all the way, or get out the way. Either way, we're in a much better place than 2005-2012.

Another thing to consider is that our offense has been given excellent field position all year thanks to our defense making great adjustments and forcing four turnovers against VT. The problems with pass protection and the O-line are glaring, but you can't expect to amass 600 yards a game when you are given the ball with a short field all night.

The point is with stats like that we aren't winning half our SEC games

The biggest issue with the offense is the OL. Time and time again, games are won in the trenches.

No, the point is you already have admitted defeat....before we've even lost.

Hell I see looking at things from diff views but even if all you see is how bad the stats are and have the bad feeling in the pit of your stomach that's it's gonna get ugly down the road, after waiting 8 months for the season to start would you not want to enjoy the wins while you could so your not miserable from the get go?

If a person can't even enjoy the wins then why even watch and devote so much of your time to this sport?

It's not on me to say how somebody else should feel so carry on but I'm honestly trying to figure out how things are already so bad? I have the same gut feeling that if something don't change the elite teams will more than likely jump all over us but I also know this team has improved in one week and makes things happen when it needs to. Since there's a chance things don't go our way this season I will make the most of every win and not throw in the towel at 2-0.

The stats I'm worried about are defensive. We can't be allowing this many rushing yards when we get to the SEC games. That could be key in the FL game. However, our defensive yards per point is actually pretty good. And the Offensive yards per point is elite. Losing Kirkland is very bad, since the rushing yards we've been giving up are misdirection and runs to the outside, where having good linebackers is crucial. Here's to hoping Shoop shows that Harvard graduate mind and makes the personnel and scheme changes to shore this up.
