Stats From Todays Scrimmage..

I wouldn't get caught up in the passing stats, 40 mph gusts here in knoxville today. It made it very hard on the QBs. Brewer is a beast. Looks like Dallas is going to be a steal! Our WR core is going to be awesome! Neal is our best RB, never been that impressed with Poole. Look out for Crump!!!

With Da'Rick and Hunter, it feels like Meachem and Swain all over again for me..I was so pumped about them when they were first here...I thought Swain would be all world...reminds me of Da'Rick

Funny all the Fugate praise a week ago and seemingly no stats for this scrimmage.

It was a scrimmage, the first one. Coaches have things they want to look at specifically during scrimmages so they're set up for just that. When he gets around to focusing on Fugate, he will because he said he was going to look at him in a larger rushing role capacity. It looks to me like he wanted to see how his two RB from last season looked and to take a peek at his new guys. And probably to see how the QBs managed the game, made reads etc.

Instead of gloating over Fugate not being featured in scrimmage one, maybe you can mention how the new and/or unknown backs seemed to be making what they could of their limited opportunities thusfar. It's possible to show support for your team and players even in a mere first scrimmage but you knew that didn't you? :jpshakehead:

[Apologies (again), moderators. I just hate it when so-called fans badmouth our players. Especially when there's no good reason to do so.]

Good grief and a double WTF. I simply thought he'd get a touch with the praise and mention from last week. I was not poking fun or griping. I am amped about Neal and suprised you could take so much from one post I had.

And on a more civilized note, I too want Neal to become, as a team mate said, the Vols secret weapon. But it was one scrimmage and one can't put too much stock into it. Now maybe during or after the O & W game or the first few games if we're seeing such numbers consistently, then we can crow (vocally, not edible-wise), dance in the street, learn to fly without a plane, nullify the law of gravity at will so we can float like a butterfly, jab bone marrow needles into Gators and Tide fans thus sting like a bee, and make pets of their women and children. So I'm happy about Neal's showing and "wonder" if as well as hoping it a harbinger of great things to come.

I have really been hoping Maurice Couch can play a big role with Jackson up front. Didn't see his name in stats. Did he play in the scrimmage ?

i think people are really overlooking the stats. Id like to here from if anyone was there (I live in Cali so if it wasnt open to public i didn't know)
But id rather hear about just how they looked as a cohesive unit, how they held onto the ball. How much pressure got to Bray. Just things like that
Thank You

-Sounds like Neal as a best though

Tauren Poole 9-21-0-15...wth?

Hard to say. He may have had an inordinate number of carries in short yardage situations. There's always a few practices where the frontrunner gets statistically outshone by a backup.

Dooley did say last year that Neal's big problem was with understanding his role in the offense, but that he had a lot of potential. Might be seeing him come into his own.

I think Hunter and Da'Rick will be far better than Meachem and Swain by the time they graduate.

Nothing against Swain, but I will be very disappointed if Da'Rick does not have a better career than what Swain had.
