Stats after 3 games

We're about to find out these next few weeks. Think we've missed Mays at center the last couple weeks in a big way. Hope he's back this week. Also, need best RB's on the field to give us a chance going into SEC play.

Against terrible competition.
You play who is on your schedule. Interesting though how the discussion moves from terrible rushing yardage, to terrible rushing from RBs and finally to how terrible the competition is. I get it, you aren’t happy with the results so far.

The conversation never moved. The rushing is terrible. You'll understand better when it is right in front of you, maybe.

Terrible. Leading rusher at 80 yards a game and that is against 2 of the worst teams you will see.
Dude, we’ve played like 3 running backs pretty equally and both our 1st and 2nd string have missed a game. Not to mention, we have almost no depth on the O line. Obviously we’re not gonna be a great running team this season. Or team in general.

Stats look pretty good. Actually a little bit better than I thought. All but the passing offense which is really bad. I find it funny that TN fans can praise other teams that light up garbage teams, but when TN does it, it’s well it’s against bad competition. You can only play who is on your schedule.

Most of the other SEC teams have not been play league championship teams either. I know, a couple have but most have had it easy in 2 of their 3 games.
This right here, you for sure can't throw stats completely out. Of course they will change for everyone as the season progresses. But our special teams to date has played well and our defense overall has also. GBO!!!!

I'm not surprised by our offense. Honestly, I figured with anyone but JG at the helm, we had enough playmakers to put points on the board.

However, the shocker to me (and I mean no disrespect by this) has been the defense. I've been very surprised with that unit, ESPECIALLY with how thin they were in the Spring, and how much they lost through the portal. If our defense can play on the level they have been, and maybe get a few more turnovers, then we have a chance to seriously be in some ball games.

I think this year, our biggest enemy will be ourselves. I think if we can keep the penalties and injuries to a minimum, then the sky is the limit for this team. We have seen how bad we can hurt ourselves when we play undisciplined football. There isn't anyone who wouldn't agree we SHOULD have won that game against Pitt, but you can't have that many penalties and expect to win. I'm glad we got that lesson early in the year. Hopefully, we will clean that up in the rest of the year.

I've liked what I've seen thus far this year. Granted, our competition has not been the greatest. But, I feel like our offense has progressed each game (especially when Hooker is in). I think we could win with either Hooker or Milton. The key is going to be the offensive line. That's our weak link right now, IMO.

Honestly the lack of push from OL on running plays even vs BG and TN Tech has been the biggest (and most surprising) disappointment.
We ran for 331 yards against BG, I'm not sure what you mean. They didn't look great against tech, but they still ran for over 200 yards with 4.3 ypc. Fairly average, but fine enough, there was an unusually high amount of short yardage runs that were needed (goal line or 3rd or 4th and 1 type plays).

Also, missing Cooper certainly hurts us. Center is probably the most important position on the line, and he's our best center.

4.3 is not average against a terrible FCS team. Our starting RBs average less than 4 YPC combined.

It's gonna be a lot of quick 3 and outs. Our defense will be completely wiped out by the end of the game. It won't be pretty.

It's just an average for any game, I literally said they didn't look great against them. 4.3 yards is an average amount for a game though, doesn't mean they did a good job. Hard to argue they did a bad job against BG though.

Yeah. All of our best run plays have been from the QBs so far. Doesn't seem like our RBs have much room to run. Even when they do they aren't doing anything special.

I choose to take a dump on those stats and refuse to look with any hope towards SEC play. I'm a realist! We will get murdered blah blah blah. Go big orange!

If Hooker gets a half against BG passing would have looked much better. But I understand why he played Milton the whole game he needed it.

I like it. Stats are a little inflated due to the level of competition, but I’ll be super impressed if we continue to average 30+ points per game in SEC play.
Compare those stats to the years past when we played inferior teams. Our teamed performed as they should, given the level of play. That hasn't been the case under JP and the final years of Lyle. I think the offense will only get better. The defensive stats may be over inflated but we will no more this week.

A&M’s leading rusher = 83 yards per game

Clemsons leading rusher = 58 yards per game

Just sayin
How can anyone complain about the offense so far? Yea its a work in progress but it is light years ahead of the crap from last years offense

Some folks would complain if you gave them a million dollars……because they might have to pay taxes on that “free” money.

These are those folks.
