You cannot judge this team, or this coaching staff, by the outcome of this game. This is not a fair fight, by any measure. Forget that UT is at home. That makes little difference, if at all. UGA is loaded with talent; they have a full roster; and the coaching staff is dialed in. UT has nowhere near the talent that UGA does; is down roughly 15 on the standard 85 scholarship roster; and is still learning the system under a first year coaching staff. This is the Battle of Thermopylae in 2021. Unfortunately, we're the Spartans in this one.
UGA wins. UT needs to stay as healthy as they can, and then go 2-0 down the stretch. 7-5 gets us to a decent bowl game, and then we look forward to 2022, and see what Heupel and this staff can do in recruiting. Over the past what feels like last 100 years, I've been fooled by Dooley, Jones, and even Pruitt. If I were you, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in what I'm about to say here. But there's just something about Coach Heupel, and his "never give up" staff...and this team...that tell me good times are coming. I just don't think we can beat UGA without them giving us a lot of help. I've watched every UGA game this season. They might not win the Natty, but the only team that can stop them is themselves.
I'm already on the record about my appetite for crow if UT wins. I'll honor it, here, with my own thread.
So...make life tough on UGA; win the last two; and win the bowl game. 8-5? I'll take that all day given what we started with.
Go Vols. Good times, they be coming.
